Birthplace

Sheffield?

Doncaster?

However the Births register for the last quarter of 1980 shows a "James Michael Toseland" birth being registered in Doncaster. While not totally conclusive it would be extremely unlikely for a Sheffield birth to be registered in Doncaster (and vice versa)

How bizarre. Normally I'd say go with the person's official homepage, but he's contrived to get both. The official MotoGP site has him as Sheffield as well. I've sent an email off via his official site, i'll let you know if I get anything back. Ged UK (talk) 18:17, 6 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
From the links, and having added to the article before, I think the story is - parents living in Doncaster, born in a Sheffield hospital, then parents seperate/divorce and with mother moves to Rotherham. Be interesting to see what his official website says. There is more debate here as well - if this is correct, then do we list the technical point of birth or where his parents were living? I have noticed different articles have different conclusions on this subject. Rgds, --86.141.164.141 (talk) 12:17, 10 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I've always thought it should be where he was born, not where he grew up: That's what birth-place means after all. If we want to mention the details of his childhood and where he grew up, then fine provided we can source it. Ged UK (talk) 18:34, 10 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Maybe the page was edited since the links above were posted but both about_jt and vital_stats in his official website say Doncaster. I believe we should use that Chris Ssk talk 23:34, 7 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
The archived page at [1] has Sheffield so it looks like the official website is now consistent on Doncaster as his place of birth. M100 (talk) 23:42, 7 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Changes now made to align article with (the now consistent) information at http://www.jamestoseland.com. Hopefully his website won't change when the wind moves to a different direction! M100 (talk) 00:00, 8 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Ah good, they've updated it. I hoped they would after I emailed them. Never did get a reply though! :) --Ged UK (talk) 14:37, 8 April 2008 (UTC) most people in kiveton park considers themselves as sheffielders,so no wonder james as always thought himself as a sheffield lad even though he was born in donny.[reply]

could you please put kiveton park in south yorkshire instead of rotherham, its offensive to say its in rotherham. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.195.166.147 (talk) 19:49, 3 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It's in Rotherham. If yuo don't like it, take it up with your MP. --Ged UK (talk) 19:52, 3 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Results tables

Since when should the most recent results come first on the results tables? Virtually every MotoGP rider has the oldest results first and the most recent results at the bottom of the table. Why should this page be any different? Christophee (talk) 09:37, 29 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Because its the most logical way to do it, you first usually want to know what he is doing now, and then his past results are of less importance as the results from the present season. All other none Moto Gp riders have the table laid out in the newest year order, maybe there needs to be a overall style agreed... Xrateddan (talk) 22:03, 31 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I agree that we need to agree on a style. I'll bring it up on the WikiProject. Christophee (talk) 01:30, 1 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
