Purge is an online-only PC computer game. It is a hybrid First-Person-Shooter / Role-Playing-Game set in the near future accounting a war between the diametrically opposed forces of science-fiction (the Order) and fantasy (the Chosen). Technology versus magic. Science versus religion. It is a great divine war, where followers pray for intervention from the extraterrestrial deity Evod or the supernatural deity Mabus. Originally released in 2002, Freeform Interactive has now officially made Purge a free game.

FreeForm Interactive have abandoned their purge project, purge is now run entirely by the community. Purge underground is the only purge server left.

Critical reception

Both Gamespot and IGN rated Purge as "mediocre".[1][2] IGN highlighted detailed environments with well-defined textures and impressive effects, and it was argued that Purge was a notable example within the "character development" niche of action genre. Criticisms included indistinct vocal commands, some unsuitable weapon sound effects, a "practically nonexistent" playing community, lack of game modes and unpolished level design.
