Mampad is a small village in situated in the banks of the great chaliyar river.Malappuram district, Kerala, India. The world famous teak plantation and teak meuseum is located near mampad(7 kilom from here). Mampad is a place with rich in its cultureThe majority of the people living here are muslims.Mampad consist 2 LP schools,3 highersecondary schools and a famaous college(M.E.S college mampad). [www.educationinfoindia.com/.../b_%20M%20E%20S%20Mampad%20College,... - Cached ] Most of the people living in the village are poor and illitrate.Most of the people work as sand loaders in the river.Due to lack of knowledge they all continue as the sand workers and they rare not ready to find new jobs.This is causing many enviornmental problems such as land sliding etc.Even though the government banned taking sand from the river people continue the same.These sand taking had became a great issue among the people and it had resulted many fightings.
