Faust?
Knowing nothing more than owning the album, I can't really contribute, but James Taylor's turn as God in Randy Newman's Faust should probably be added to the entry. [03:24, September 4, 2006 69.162.59.13]
Picture
How a picture with Mr. Taylor smiling? He looks so bummed out in the current picture. [04:23, February 10, 2007 207.161.1.103]
- Agreed!!! The photo does look kind of funny. Is there any other possible photo that someone might find, showing him clearly without violating copyright? Please, let's change this one with the peculiar expression on his face.leahtwosaints (talk) 03:24, 13 December 2008 (UTC)
- Wikipedia is famous for its awful pictures of BLPs. This is just one more example. Wasted Time R (talk) 03:31, 13 December 2008 (UTC)
The Beatles' miscellanea
Check The Beatles' miscellanea to see if there is anything in it you can use. A lot of 'miscellanea' needs to be trimmed (as linked articles are improved) so please feel free to use anything before certain sections get zapped into the ether... ThE bEaTLeS aka andreasegde 16:30, 3 March 2007 (UTC)
"Fire and Rain" origin
The second sentence of "1970s success" states that the Suzanne mentioned in "Fire and Rain" died from suicide. However, the "Fire and Rain" article states she was killed in a plane crash... Fustigate314159 02:59, 15 March 2007 (UTC)
Blender's wuss
It seems some people here [1] object to including the mention that Taylor was named Blender Magazine's wussiest rocker even though: 1) IT HAPPENED and 2) IT'S SOURCED. Wikipedia is NOT just for good news, everything about Taylor as it pertains to him as a musician and public figure is relevant for inclusion. I happen to like Taylor very much, but I am not going to sugar-coat the fact that Blender doesn't like him. What I wrote about it is not misleading or subjective in any way [2] and I'm putting it back. Wikipedia readers can draw their own subjective conclusions about Blender, but mere fact that the incident is reported here is hardly misleading. Wl219 00:17, 5 April 2007 (UTC)
- OK. I have, however, moved it out of the "Biography" section, which should relate what JT has done, and moved it to the "Recognition" section, which should describe what has been done to him, flattering or not. In any case, the Worldwide Organisation of Wusses (WOW) is quite likely pleased that JT has been numbered as one of their own. — Grstain | Talk 13:00, 5 April 2007 (UTC)
- Fair enough. Thank you. Wl219 13:10, 5 April 2007 (UTC)
Genre
Regardless of whether or not he was voted as a wuss by Blender, should genre really read "Thumbsucker blues" and "wuss rock"? 124.191.128.107 12:35, 20 April 2007 (UTC)
- That was vandalism. It has been removed. —Grstain | Talk 12:41, 20 April 2007 (UTC)
Oscars
Didn't I see him performing at the Oscars this year? Would someone like to include this information under the appropriate heading? Mornington 19:49, 1 October 2007 (UTC)
Corrected high school
I've corrected the information on the school from which Taylor graduated. The article (and the cited reference) had incorrectly identifed Chapel Hill High School, when in fact, he attended and graduated from McLean's Arlington School. — Aldaron • T/C 16:35, 12 April 2008 (UTC)
- Blogs and fan pages are not valid sources. Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? 16:43, 12 April 2008 (UTC)
- The Boston Globe is a fan page? — Aldaron • T/C 17:03, 12 April 2008 (UTC)
- In addition to the Boston Globe article, I've added a biography. Note also that, if anything, the old, incorrect citation was more of a "fan page" (for Chapel Hill). Also note that the information there may simply be misleading, rather than wrong: Taylor may have technically been issued a diploma from Chapel Hill High School, in leu of or in addition to the one from The Arlington School. — Aldaron • T/C 17:15, 12 April 2008 (UTC)
- In expanding the early years sections, I've added detail on this from the White biography. Taylor left the Milton Academy fairly early in his junior year, and spent the rest of that year at Chapel Hill High School. He returned to Milton for his senior year, but left around Thanksgiving to check into McLean. He then graduated from McLean's associated Arlington School. Wasted Time R (talk) 23:33, 26 December 2008 (UTC)
- Looks good. Note that I've also spoken with people who were at school with him in Chapel Hill and they've confirmed this version of events (not that that's a valid source for Wikipedia). — Aldaron • T/C 06:17, 28 February 2009 (UTC)

Relationships and Biographical info
There isn't enough information on JT's relationships.. how they came about, ended, etc. Unless I missed it somewhere, I don't see any mention of when Taylor's marriage to Simon ended and why, and then the next thing I see is that he has wed for the 3rd time. What happened in between? Who and when was #2? Likewise, his friendship with Carole King and connection to her isn't really touched upon. Where and how did Taylor decide upon a surrogate mother for children when he & his wife are so far along in years, particularly after Simon's complaints that Taylor had not "been there" enough for Ben and Sally? (I'm not complaining, but trying to point out some gaps in this article.. I was surprised that it was so short on info when JT's career has been so long).leahtwosaints (talk) 14:47, 13 December 2008 (UTC)
- Someone just yanked all that, because it wasn't cited. That's a problem with the whole article. The Timothy White biography is a great source, that should be the starting point of improvement work on this article. Wasted Time R (talk) 14:51, 13 December 2008 (UTC)
- Following my own advice, I've begun doing this. Wasted Time R (talk) 03:56, 14 December 2008 (UTC)

Revert of James Taylor edit on McLean stay
Are you certain about your recent revert of my edit to James Taylor? My change of meaning was intentional: my reading of the materials (and understanding of the campus and hospital) is that the part of McLean where Taylor spent his time was, in fact, the Arlington School. Was there a different part of the campus where he was housed? I can't find one identified in any of the cited references. — Aldaron • T/C 03:30, 9 May 2009 (UTC)
- Agreed that Arlington is part of McLean. But the sources I've read all talk about McLean in terms of treatment and Arlington in terms of schooling. But JT's statement that his stay there was a lifesaver was referring to McLean (his treatment), not Arlington (his education). That's what your change made unclear. Your subsequent change to add "patients and students" is okay. Wasted Time R (talk) 03:38, 9 May 2009 (UTC)
- It's hard to tell from the sources. I think you may be right about the "lifesaver", but the article is ambiguous; he could mean Arlington (or both). I'm less sure about the "nine months". My reading is that that refers to the total time at Arlington/McLean. Was he housed somewhere else on the campus during that entire time? Also the treatment vs. schooling distinction was not clear cut: that's probably an error in the sources. Certainly his sibs identify with Arlington (and not McLean, as such). Something for further research. — Aldaron • T/C 04:01, 9 May 2009 (UTC)
- Further research is always good. And note the McLean Hospital article doesn't even mention Arlington at all. Maybe that's the first place your research should be directed to, as it seems like a hole. Wasted Time R (talk) 04:18, 9 May 2009 (UTC)

Intro discusses where He owns a home
Should where He currently resides be discussed in the second sentance of the intro? Sounds odd to me. MKUltra —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.246.235.134 (talk) 03:32, 7 January 2010 (UTC)

Not So Complete List
In the section James Taylor Colaborators, the "following ... complete list of the musicians who have played or sung with James Taylor either in concert or on recordings" wasn't (complete, that is; I just added a name) and probably still isn't (what are the odds that I picked up the only omission?) Note that the statement does not limit the list to those who've played or sung in his (Taylor's) concerts or on his recordings.
I added Paul Simon, as he, Taylor, and Art Garfunkel performed Sam Cooke's "Wonderful World" together on Garfunkel's album Water Mark. So, I also took the word "complete" out; it seemed presumptuous. Joe Avins (talk) 00:45, 20 May 2010 (UTC)
- Not only is it not complete, it doesn't belong at all. Any musician who's been around for decades will have a similarly lengthy set of people they've played with, but few if any other WP articles contain such a list. Those associations that are especially meaningful are already described in the article. I thus propose to remove this section. Wasted Time R (talk) 01:32, 20 May 2010 (UTC)
- I support deletion. It is not encyclopedic, just basically listcruft. WWGB (talk) 01:38, 20 May 2010 (UTC)
