The International Punta Classic Opera Festival is a prominent opera festival in Punta del Este, Uruguay. For music and opera lovers Uruguay's International Punta Classic Opera Festival is one of the top festivals of its kind in the world and it takes place every January (for three weeks starting in late December) in the enchanting city of Punta del Este. Opera and concert productions are performed here to great acclaim, making this a prestigious festival to attend. The festival was founded by soprano Luz del Alba Rubio, who is also the Artistic Director. The Music Director and Chief Conductor is Matthias Manasi, who will lead in 2011 the Punta Classic Festival Orchestra in a new major production of Puccini's opera La Bohème and some Galas de Zarzuela.
