Gilberto Ramírez Sánchez (born June 16, 1991 in Mexicali, Baja California, Mexico) is an undefeated Mexican professional boxer. He competes in the Middleweight division and is considered the best boxing prospect from Mexico.[1] He is the current WBC Youth World Middleweight Champion.[2]
Amateur career
During his amateur career, Ramírez was a Mexican Junior National Champion and a three time Mexican National Amateur Champion in the Elite Category.[3]
Pro career
In April of 2010, Gilberto beat veteran Jesus Ayala by 2nd round K.O. in Mazatlán, Sinaloa, Mexico.[4]
On December 17, 2010[5] Ramírez knocked out the undefeated Rogelio Medina to win the vacant WBC Youth World Middleweight Championship. The bout was held at the Gimnasio German Evers in Mazatlán, Sinaloa, Mexico.[6][7]
