Kill Vogel

Is Kano's clipboard in the second scene of Mokap's Ending reason enough to include John Vogel as an enemy? Despite it being slightly ridiculous, I think it adds comical appeal in the same way that movie critics are listed as enemies of Johnny Cage. Thoughts. Goroliath

  • Oh well, looks like someone didn't like it. I guess it's not that important after all. Goroliath

Huh!?

Taken from trivia:

The metal piece covering his eye was explained in a picture from MKDA's krypt and it explained how a cork shot from a wine bottle at a party and hit Kano in the eye. Kano went to a doctor and the doctor gave him the metal eye and a bandaid for his sore knee.

WTF?! What's the Krypt Koffin where this is said? I don't remember having read this, and certainly would remember that. If this is true, what's happening with the story? All those trademark the characters has (like Sub's scar) are being stupidly explained. What's next? Shao Kahn's spiked head is due to him falling head-first into a cactus plant?!

Rant apart, can someone point me to the Krypt Koffin, or in case (hopefully) this is a bad joke, delete it? Thanks. 201.255.30.2 05:21, 12 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I got rid of it. There is no such explanation. Every character in the game had a "joke" picture, and Kano's was about breakfast cereal. -SaturnYoshi THE VOICES 09:42, 12 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hey...

Have you noticed a pattern emerging in Kano's playable MK appearances? He always seems to skip the even games. Anybody else noticed that? -Mkrox —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mkrox (talkcontribs) 05:05, 9 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:KanoMKIII.gif

Image:KanoMKIII.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

British?

Goddard's Australian interpretation of Kano was so well-received that Kano was retconned as Australian (from his original American-Japanese) in Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance, as well as Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks, Mortal Kombat: Deception, and Armageddon's Konquest mode.

How come in Deadly Alliances Konquest mode do they say, when he loses, something alond the lines of "does my use of UK slang confuse you?" I carn't remember what slang is used, so is this a mistake made by the programers in confusing UK with Australia or is he ment to be British?FSAB (talk) 18:34, 15 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Abilities

I think the abilities of a character in a fighting game is much more important than it's backstory. Why is there no subsection about what abilities does he have in the various games? And why does it state that he can shoor laser from his eye? I've never heard of this. 84.0.117.68 (talk) 23:53, 15 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

If someone has anything against the merge

May speak out now or be silent forever, etc. Also no I won't merge it myself. --94.246.150.68 (talk) 11:51, 12 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Me, Kano's been around since MK1, he's appeared in the movie so he must have loads of reception. I admittedly do not care about the character, so I haven't tried. But definitely opposed. Sincerely Subzerosmokerain (talk) 22:01, 12 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I've never seen ANY reception, that is besides regarding the infamous 'heart transplant' of his in the first game. But that's all. Nobody likes him. Even in Fatality (Mortal Kombat) his fatalities are in 'the worst'. "He really sucks" is not notability. --94.246.150.68 (talk) 22:22, 12 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Kano needs cleanup easily...but I've seen reception for him, if sparse, when working on Reptile's article. Opposed.--Kung Fu Man (talk) 22:43, 12 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, I believe that he's a major enough character to warrant a separate article (I believe we have articles for all the first game's characters). Saying that nobody likes him isn't exactly a reason to merge the article. EVula // talk // // 23:57, 12 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

To begin reception

http://www.ugo.com/movies/mortal-kombat-best-fight-scenes Here is reception regarding the movie scene, it was rated 19th on UGO's top 100 movie fight scenes although the article compliments Sonya, he was still in the fight. Sincerely Subzerosmokerain (talk) 01:43, 13 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

That's really scrapping the barrel ("Thankfully," he's getting wasted middle in the film after giving "a whole lot of crap" - notability). He's really got only his in/famous MK1 fatality, nothing more. Nobody likes him. And while I still have your attention, the pointless "Category:GameCube first-person shooters" needs to be deleted. --94.246.150.68 (talk) 18:38, 13 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Negative reception is still reception that helps build notabiltiy. While this article may be able to have, I guess it would be the best to merge as there still has been no work in that section. On the other hand, arguments like "Nobody likes him" are not valid for these things.Tintor2 (talk) 18:43, 14 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
It's not that even people hate him. Just nobody cares about him (do you? really?). He's just so bland and uninteresting and mildly annoying. That's all. --94.246.150.68 (talk) 21:57, 14 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
This appears something to be discussed in a forum, not wikipedia. If you don't like him, it's okay, but I don't get what's the point for these comments since they are not constructive at all for a merge.Tintor2 (talk) 23:36, 14 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Do YOU like him? Do you know anyone who actually like him? --94.246.150.68 (talk) 16:00, 15 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Again, not a forum.Tintor2 (talk) 17:12, 15 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
OK, rephrasing. Do you know any gaming magazine editor who likes him? --94.246.150.68 (talk) 18:36, 15 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Dude, I broke the rules when I said I didn't care for him but please lighten up. This is entirely counterproductive and rather than looking for reception, you're just goading us to respond. Please, just focus on making articles better. Sincerely Subzerosmokerain (talk) 18:41, 15 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not angry or anything, I'm just proving my point (that I was right when I said nobody likes him). Even early on he was taken off MK2 poster for this very reason, and unlike Sonya people didn't miss him. (I don't mean "nobody" completely literaly and maybe he even has some dedicated fans - stranger things happened, but this doesn't change the fact great most of fans simply don't care about Kano. He's not even hated, like Stryker, he's just so bland and boring he isn't getting ANY feelings, just apathy. He's not a scary villain, he's not a charismatic one, he's not a psycho chick with big boobs AND beartrap for a mouth, he's just Kano and he's a failed character.) Oh, and you want get reception for this very reason. --94.246.150.68 (talk) 18:56, 15 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I think you are only proving that you don't like Kano. Nothing constructive regarding wikipedia. Moreover, your previous statement could just broke civility.Tintor2 (talk) 02:53, 16 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I think I'm only proving nobody likes Kano (and you're wasting your time trying to research Kano). Oh and I broke what, how? Well, I'm sorry I hurt Kano's feelings. --94.246.150.68 (talk) 09:35, 16 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
When was I researching something? Why do you even write in this section if you only write things to be written in a forum?Tintor2 (talk) 14:11, 16 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
It's a talk page and we talk. I'm saying he won't ever got any real reception here because he's just so very unloved, and you're saying "stop saying that, it's mean; Kano may be ugly and stupid and uninspired and unplayable but has still has feelings and that's just uncivil". Anyway, what forum? --94.246.150.68 (talk) 15:41, 16 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Nope. This is a violation Talk page guidelines, especially What Wikipedia is not. Talk pages are not for this and just using uncivil words when writing them no matter what is just uncyclopedic.Tintor2 (talk) 21:27, 16 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
So once again: The guy has no real reception. This is not an opinion, this is a fact. --94.246.150.68 (talk) 16:36, 17 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
If this was already mentioned before, what's the point of saying it again?Tintor2 (talk) 22:34, 17 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
To let it go and take the old yellow yeller behind the shed already? --94.246.150.68 (talk) 23:49, 17 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Already stated.Tintor2 (talk) 11:58, 18 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
But not already started. --94.246.150.68 (talk) 19:29, 18 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
It's basically agreed by four editors here that he should not be merged versus you. It's basically established by WP:CONSENSUS, that we should not merge. Sincerely Subzerosmokerain (talk) 00:57, 19 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
It's basically established he won't ever get any reception (except the forced stuff) and the only reason for keeping him is "b-b but he was in the first game!" (where he had one once-famous finishing move, but that's all). --94.246.150.68 (talk) 10:09, 19 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Clearly, you're not interested in actually looking for the information, so I'll post some for you: [1], This may or may not be reliable, [2], [3], [4], [5]. This is precisely why I hate the Notability guideline, it just allows users to merge and when people oppose it the ones who oppose it have the burden of proof fall upon them. So basically, lazy users can just try to merge and causes other people to do the work for them. Sincerely Subzerosmokerain (talk) 16:32, 19 January 2011 (UTC) Additionally, I found this link: [6] where Ed speaks down on Kano's fatatlity, stating the Sub-Zero's spine rip stood out over it. And don't be surprised that when he's announced for MK9 the reception will come in drones. Sincerely Subzerosmokerain (talk) 16:47, 19 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Additionally, for promotion, you can see that he was featured as an action figure for Deception: [7], [8] manufactured by Jazwares. [9] as well as an old 1994 version all of the figures in the series have reception by gamesradar [10] who is reliable. There that was all I could dig up. Sincerely Subzerosmokerain (talk) 16:56, 19 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Your links: UGO has 50 MK characters listed there, of course he's there TOO; MKII rumors/Shang Tsung; what is "product-reviews.net"; yes, it's this fatality, I talked about it already; again, yes, he's in "the lamest" indeed; yes, he's in "the worst"; yes, THIS ONE FATALITY, I know, really I do. In short: one good fatality (18 years ago), but otherwise he sucks (but not for being evil, but for being dull) - and he's just one among the 50 others. His design/personality is a failure, his role in the series is actually unimportant too - look in the new game he's not even in the starting roster and remember this is of course his only series and no, he's not an iconic character there, he's just one of the 50. Oh, and in GamesRadar article on "The most horrifically crap" toys he's not even in the pictures. Nor mentioned (like Sonya and Goro). --94.246.150.68 (talk) 20:59, 19 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, and also one more thing: Jax is so much more important. After his own game, now he got his own live series. (And no, Kano's apparently not there neither.) --94.246.150.68 (talk) 22:24, 19 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

We're talking about Kano please don't try to change the subject. Yes all 50 MK characters are there but it's still usable (since it's by UGO.com a reliable source) as well as the Fatality reception, even though that reception is on the Fatality (Mortal Kombat) page, it is not exclusive to that page. All of those links, saying he has lame fatalities, etc. IS Reception and if it's said by different sites (especially reliable ones like these) that info. is viable for putting under Reception. As I proved above, Reliable, third party sources Verify prove his notability. As per that GamesRadar thing, I was on a computer where the info. was blocked, so I couldn't read it. Sincerely Subzerosmokerain (talk) 22:43, 19 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Also, the product reviews.net links to GameTrailers a known reliable source, I couldn't link directly to GameTrailers. Sincerely Subzerosmokerain (talk) 22:44, 19 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Also, GameSpot talks about the Kano transformations, [11]. Sincerely Subzerosmokerain (talk) 22:47, 19 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
And GamePro had an article on them: [12] by Dan Elektro (or by his real name Dan Amrich). Sincerely Subzerosmokerain (talk) 23:03, 19 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
You're forcing it. You know? It's simply a weak character you're only bent on it because he was also in the 1st game and that's all really. It's a pretty poor reason. Forget Jax, "even" Baraka would probably be just as good a better candidate. My guess, I fon't care for him enough to search, but now I'll just show you how the people don't like (or at least care about) Kano, compare these 2 minor characters - the score and the number of votes: [13][14] (and yes, that's despite Kabo being in the first game and promoted by wikipedia). --94.246.150.68 (talk) 23:33, 19 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I don't need to compare anything, scoring and number of votes is done by the community as in, it's not relevant. I'm against merging him because, as i've posted above, he has reception. Jax and Baraka are irrelevant to this discussion, you're not even citing Notability anymore you're citing importance. As other users have told me, it's not importance that tells you if a character has an article but Notability which is proven above. You have no argument. Sincerely Subzerosmokerain (talk) 23:45, 19 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I am citing notability, I'm citing importance, I'm citing how he is generally perceived in the fan community and basically non-existing at all outside of it (we're talking about right now and not 1993). It's just, simply, a totally generic and quite poor character (even Dairou has a notable fatality, who the hell is Dairou). If all you guys are such a huge fans of Kano, just tell me and I guess I'll leave the poor guy alone. Are you? But really "sincerily". Oh, and also the article in GamePro is discussing MKII and not Kano. It's like, say, if Kitana had no real notability like him and had to get a "Kitana takes off her clothes (for a Nudality)" rumors, that belongs more to the MKII article, INSTEAD of the substantial notability like being in the Top 10 here, Top 20 there, this kind of stuff. --94.246.150.68 (talk) 08:09, 20 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
