Souljah Fyah

Souljah Fyah is a reggae band based in Canada. The band is led by vocalist–bassist Janaya "Sista J" Ellis (Love Empire Entertainment) and stylistically straddles Roots Reggae and Dancehall.

Their second full-length album, Truth Will Reveal, released in 2008, was nominated for a Juno Award for “Reggae Album of the Year”,[1] and won both “Outstanding Urban Recording” at the Western Canadian Music Awards and "Best Reggae Album" at the 2009 Reggae Music Achievement Awards.[2][3] The album’s producer, IBO, was nominated for a Reggae Music Achievement Award for his work on the recording.[4]

Besides Ellis, Souljah Fyah’s current lineup includes Dorant "Saint" Ricketts on drums and vocals, "2-Tall" Paul Joosse on bass, guitar, vocals and keyboards, "Stormin' Norm" Frizzell on keyboards, and Bongbiemi "The Original Tribesman" Nfor on percussion.

The band also released a self-titled album in 2004.[5] IBO and Janaya Ellis co-produced the album. In June 2009, Souljah Fyah released an EP of songs produced by Stew Kirkwood called Tears of a Fool. A third full-length album, I Wish, was released at the end of 2010.[6]

Souljah Fyah has played the Edmonton Folk Music Festival and various Folk, World and Reggae Festivals across Canada.
