Suresh (Template:Lang-mr); (Template:Lang-ta); (Template:Lang-te); (Urdu: سرش) (born Tirupattur Sathyanarayan Suresh on 1 July 1986 in Vellore, India) is a Tamil film editor. He started editing independently at the age of 22. This makes him one of the youngest film editors in the country. He was well known by all in the Tamil industry for the work in the block buster movie Thoonga Nagaram.
Film career
Suresh made his editorial debut in Thamizh Padam, a 2010 Tamil spoof film written and directed by debutant C.S.Amudhan. The film stars Shiva and Disha Pandey in the lead roles. The film's plot parodies contemporary commercial films in Tamil cinema, mocking the stereotypical scenes.[1][2] The film was distributed by Dhayanidhi Alagiri's Cloud Nine Movies. The film had a wide expectation based on the viral marketing campaign that the producers undertook with popular film stills being parodied as a part of the promotion strategy. This film released along with Goa and it was a box office success.[3] The film garnered very best ratings on the user ratings.[4]
His next release, Theeratha Vilayattu Pillai, a 2010 Tamil romantic comedy film written and directed by Thiru Krishnamoorthy. The film, produced by Vikram Krishna, stars his brother Vishal Krishna in the lead role along with Neetu Chandra, former Miss India Universe Tanushree Dutta making her debut in Tamil cinema, and former Miss India World Sarah-Jane Dias who makes her acting debut. Santhanam, Sathyan, Mayilsamy, and T. S. B. K. Mouli play supporting roles while Sneha and Mallika Kapoor make special appearances and Prakash Raj in a guest role. The general consensus was that the character of Karthik displayed male chauvinism. Santhanam's comedy track was well appreciated in the movie.[5] Sify Movies gave the movie a more lenient review,.[6] It is interesting to note that the movie was promoted by Sun Pictures,[7] who have had a good track record of promoting movies[8]
In 2011, his next venture, Thoonga Nagaram, a Tamil gangster - drama film written and directed by debutant Gaurav, starring himself along with Vimal, Bharani, Nishanth and Anjali in the lead roles.[9] The film, produced by Dhayanidhi Alagiri's Cloud Nine Movies, was shot entirely in Madurai, the city where the story takes place and which the title refers to. The film was a commercial success grossing nearly $2million at the box office in 6 weeks,as per charts published by behindwoods.com.[10]The film is also the first film to be produced by Cloud Nine Movies.[11]
He is currently working on a upcoming Bollywood Action Thriller film Tezz, directed by Priyadarshan and produced by Ratan Jain. The film is set to release in 2011 under the SRK Entertainment & Movies Pvt. Ltd. banner.[12][13] Shooting of the film was scheduled to begin in September/October 2010.[14][15] The film was originally going to be titled Bullet Train before it was renamed as Tezz. The film's action sequences, one of which will make extensive use of parkour techniques, will be directed by The Bourne Ultimatum stunt coordinator Gareth Milne.[16]
Personal life
Suresh studied B.Sc. Visual Communication in SRM University, Chennai. He began his film career by assisting ace film editor Anthony in several language films between 2004 and 2009.
