I'm working in infrastructure and transport sector in Italy and, in my way of thinking, when we talk about the A3 we must consider that this autoroute is not a Highway but a simple Motorway without toll. In Italy there are only 2 or 3 Highways, all located in Northern Italian peninsula. Thank you! --Mac 3 July 2005 00:49 (UTC)

What do u consider by highway and motorway?

Italy has 6400 kilometers of expressways ( two or more separate lanes in each direction ) and about 3000 kilometers of other high speed highways whithout toll. User:Lux74

Route table

Why do the distances in the route table restart from zero at Salerno? Astronaut (talk) 13:49, 17 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Because from Naples to Salerno and from Salerno to Reggio the highway is being operated by two different companies. --Gspinoza (talk) 15:53, 25 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Tone and referencing

The rather chatty tone of the lede seems inappropriate for an encyclopedia. The lede also concentrates on substantial criticsm of the quality of the road, without a reference in sight. For example, phrases like:

  • "Generally speaking, ..." is not a good way of phrasing something in an encyclopedia.
  • "more or less a substandard freeway"... is it substandard or not and who says it is?
  • "it's famous for being prone to very high levels of traffic"... if it is so famous, why don't we have evidence of this fame?

Astronaut (talk) 13:58, 17 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You're right, for instance i don't like when it says "The motorway is currently undergoing some slight modernisation attempts at some segments and junctions". Slight modernisation?!?! They're practically rebuilding the motorway from scratch! --Gspinoza (talk) 15:51, 25 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Italia Viaduct

The Italia Viaduct is on this route between Laino Borgo and Mormanno. Given that it is the highest bridge in Italy and quite a feat of engineering it should probably get a mention on this page. (Sorry, I didn't know where to fit it in) ShakyIsles (talk) 21:44, 1 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
