Overview

This page is for voting on the inclusion of genres on the Heavy Metal Template, and will act as a guide point to future work regarding other projects that the group chooses to partake in. The simple voting rules are below.

Voting Rules

This poll will close on Sunday, April 30th. Any votes after this period will be dismissed, so please make sure to vote before closing if you want to vote.

Please vote only keep or delete. If you feel like abstaining from a specific genre, simply dont vote on it. If you wish to comment or debate the genre, please do so on its section of this talk page.

Please mark all votes clearly. Please specify your choice before you make a comment on the reason for your choice.

Please do not use sockpuppets or meatpuppets to over vote. Suspicious votes will be checked, and forfieted if sockpuppets or meatpuppets have been used.

Please be fair to the views of others. Different people will vote different ways. If someone votes in disagreement with you, please use the Project talk page to discuss their reasoning with them.

Do not make personal attacks. Anyone making personal attacks of any kind will have their votes refuted and will be reported to an admin.

Keep, although this is a difficult one. Symphonic Metal

Keep A core genre, not a subsidary or cross-genre term. This article and Gothic Metal both show what we are aiming to accomplish with this clean up, in moving stubs into the main articles. Deizo, please 'read' the article. Ley Shade 02:28, 2 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
~~Delete~~, still have concerns about this being "core" and too close to Gothic metal. The article does assert that this is distinct but also describes it as combining several other genres. The (relatively small number of) bands on the list therein are identified solely as Symphonic metal, while some stubs of sub-genres can be moved in here which are both important. A better article with some more notable bands in the list, also defined on their articles as Symphonic metal, would be great in asserting this as "core", which for me demands both a distinct sound and popularity, with plenty of notable exponents. Delete (cross-ref); a genre that lumps together symphonic power metal and symphonic black metal is surely considered cross-genre? In my opinion it really doesn't qualify for being on the template. Symphonic power metal is close to gothic metal or power metal, and symphonic black metal is close to, well, black metal... I don't see the need of adding this on the template as well.
