Steve John Shepherd (born September 1973) is a British actor who is known for his role in the BBC soap opera EastEnders as Michael Moon[1].

Career

Shepherd first became known in 1996, when he played the role of Jo, the law clerk, in the critically acclaimed BBC drama This Life. He remained in the role for two series (1996–1997). He also starred in a 2005 film, The Best Man as 'James'.

Other credits include Maisie Raine (1998); Virtual Sexuality (1999); G:MT - Greenwich Mean Time (1999); An Unsuitable Job For A Woman (1999), Forgive and Forget (2000), where he played David, a young man confused about his sexuality who falls in love with his friend, played by John Simm; From Hell (2001), Special Branch Constable alongside Johnny Depp, Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones (2002), where he played a Naboo lieutenant; Boudica (2003); Layer Cake (2004); The Last Chancers (2004); Too Much Too Young (2005) and Dalziel and Pascoe, among others. Shepherd also starred as Paul in Channel 4's Plus One (2007); and appeared in Piaf at the Donmar Warehouse until 20 September 2008.

As of 2009, Shepherd can currently be seen in BBC Three sitcom Lunch Monkeys. On 17 January 2010 he appeared in the second episode of the second series of Being Human as Carl, a gay vampire. In July 2010 his casting as Michael Moon, an evil and twisted cousin of Alfie Moon (Shane Richie), in the soap opera EastEnders was announced.[2]

In 2011 he played the role of "Max" in the BBC series "Waking the Dead", which was broadcast in March of that year.

He also played Tiptoes in Layer Cake.

He also played a big part in the film "The Best Man" (2005) .

Personal life

In 2001, Shepherd dated the actress and singer Martine McCutcheon, who played his sister in TV drama The Knock.[3][4][5] In 2004 he married, and has two children.
