Citations needed

That whole paragraph on Ansel Adams and about how great Galen Rowell is needs a citation from a scholarly source. Right now it is as if someone just came up and wrote it out of nowhere. Remember, this is an encyclopedia, which means that everything needs to be factual. Additionally, it would be nice if more citations were added to the whole article as well. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.82.232.151 (talkcontribs) on 21:20, 11 October 2006

Photographs?

Someone should contact Mountain Light and see if they would like to donate a couple lo-res photographs under a restricted license for use on Wikipedia, this article really needs them to best show Galen Rowell's work. Also, a photo of Galen and Barbara would be great, I know a few of them exist. I'll see if I can find a good person to contact from the gallery and do the honors... Removed response; I'll make the changes given. trisweb (Talk) 17:57, 27 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Woah, hold on here. You should realize that Wikipedia only can use free image content, not restricted --- because there are commercial mirrors of Wikipedia that serves up ads (for example, http://answers.com . Once you post an image on wikipedia, it will get spread all over the internet, out of control of Wikipedia. No one can promise what you've promised. Please don't post the images. If you have already, please ask an admin to delete them.
Sorry about this. hike395 18:09, 27 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
It's all good, not uploaded or posted yet :-( If it helps any, they're very low resolution, but I don't think that helps... Well, in any case, the article content advice he gave us will be excellent. It's a shame that copyright issues prevent us from making the article be what it should be... guess we'll just have to wait until his images fall into the public domain in a few decades. Is there any way around this? Can we do something about it? Thanks... trisweb (Talk) 18:41, 27 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Well, Mountain Light can release a low-res version of one of Mr. Rowell's photos with a GFDL or Creative Commons license. This is about as likely as snowfall in Bishop in July, but you never know.
Yes, please update the article with the corrections. Thanks! hike395 03:54, 28 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Back to the photograph issue, I've come to respect copyright very greatly and regret trying to "work around" it. Next time I'm in Bishop I'll snap a few photos of the gallery, maybe a good one of the sign. That should add some decent encyclopedic photographic content. trisweb (Talk) 15:57, 27 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Climbing and adventuring accomplishments

Hope I'm commenting appropriately... Regarding claimed first ascent of Anye Machin, on page 44 of his book Mountain Light (1986) Rowell suggests a Japanese team was first up. "Even though we saw no sign on the summit of a prior ascent, we later learned that a Japanese party had indeed come up the other side a few weeks before us." Has this since been contradicted?--Mjpfolkes (talk) 04:59, 15 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Barbara was Galen's 2nd wife

Barbara isn't Tony's mother. The biographical aspects of Rowell aren't well covered (like his parents). Also needed are some of Galen's controversies, most recently Tibet and China (where he stirred the pot so to speak). 143.232.210.38 (talk) 16:00, 20 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Could you provide some reliable sources to help us fix the article? —hike395 (talk) 01:42, 21 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
