Production

Production began in Europe in the BMW Werk Leipzig plant in October 2009. It is also being produced in Chennai, India, and in Shenyang, China by BMW-Brilliance Automotive Ltd.

Future Development

The next generation BMW X1 is expected in 2015. It was recently reported that the new X1 will share its platform with the MINI Countryman. It is also expected that the next X1 will lose the six-cylinder option in favor of four-cylinder engines to increase interior space.[10]
