Blewett Pass (el. 4102 ft./1250 m.), is a mountain pass in the Cascades in Washington state crossed by U.S. Highway 97. Named for Edward Blewett, a Seattle mining promoter of the 1880s,[1] it lies on the route of the historical Yellowstone Trail.[1]
It connects Interstate 90 between Seattle and Ellensburg, Washington with U.S. Highway 2 between Monroe, Washington and Wenatchee.
It was formerly known as Swauk pass. The Old Blewett Pass summit is about five miles west of the current summit. The old pass road, which is not regularly maintained and has extremely spotty cellphone reception, is Forest Road 9715 and Forest Road 7320. The road closes for the winter so seasonal recreation may take place. Notify the Forest Service in the Wenatchee National Forest before taking the road.
On July 28 2012, Audi Club Northwest Chapter took a driving excursion called Toure de Old Blewett Road.
