The result of the proposal was Move. While the umlaut is acceptable, the fact that many of included entries don't use it indicates that the simplest common form should be used per WP:DABNAME.Cúchullain t/c 12:43, 7 June 2012 (UTC)
Doppelgänger (disambiguation) → Doppelganger (disambiguation) – In Wikipedia common titles are used, see Wikipedia:Article_titles#Common_names. In English, it is common to drop the umlaut, writing doppelganger. Fluffystar (talk) 13:03, 26 May 2012 (UTC)
- Support as this is English language Wikipedia & there's no diacritics in the English alphabet. GoodDay (talk) 20:31, 26 May 2012 (UTC)
- Oppose per Talk:Doppelgänger - but this shouldn't be a separate RM, it should be a multiple move template. In ictu oculi (talk) 05:17, 27 May 2012 (UTC)
- I don't see why it should be linked, the two issues are separate. 70.24.251.208 (talk) 03:55, 29 May 2012 (UTC)
- Oppose There are plenty of English words with diacritics and a reference work does not need to make these sorts of compromises. Xanthoxyl < 14:32, 27 May 2012 (UTC)
- Support disambiguation page should be at the simpler name, since that would be more encompassing. 70.24.251.208 (talk) 03:36, 28 May 2012 (UTC)
- Support. Doppelganger (2003 film), one of the most likely desired topics on this page, is spelled without a diacritic. The diacritic-free version is vastly more common as a search term, as you can see here. Those who looking for the umlauted version can use a redirect. Kauffner (talk) 07:00, 28 May 2012 (UTC)
- Oppose, as per Talk:Doppelgänger. If anybody insists on using wikilinks with the diacritic stripped, I'm sure we can have a redirect to accommodate them. bobrayner (talk) 10:59, 28 May 2012 (UTC)
- This isn't about "doppelgänger", it is about a disambiguation page, where entries with umlauts and without umlauts exist. 70.24.251.208 (talk) 03:54, 29 May 2012 (UTC)
- Support - Just count the entries without diacritic on this page. --77.64.199.186 (talk) 12:28, 28 May 2012 (UTC)
- Comment: The nominator should not have created this as a separate RM after starting an RM at Talk:Doppelgänger. SSR (talk) 06:43, 30 May 2012 (UTC)
- Support, given the mixed media on the page. I do not think this was an inappropriate move request, as title issues are different between disambiguation pages and regular articles. bd2412 T 19:44, 30 May 2012 (UTC)

- Support. Although I reject the rationale that says that we shouldn't use diacritics anywhere (which might be a good idea, but is not our current policy or practice), in this case it's quite clearcut. It's a shame to see the discussion again cluttered with the same old pro- and con- arguments which seem to come up in every case concerning diacritics. Andrewa (talk) 12:44, 4 June 2012 (UTC)

Internet Useage
The term "doppelganger" is also applied to a false person(s) created by one party involved in internet discussion. That party is secretly creating the postings of the doppelganger to substantiate and support his own position in the discussion, thus appearing as though some other, third person, was substantially agreeing with the party.
This is very common useage of the term and deserves mention in the disambiguation. 99.2.69.235 (talk) 16:41, 9 January 2013 (UTC)
