I created this page as a reference for the street name in New York City "Janet Freeman Way" so that passersby might know who Janet was and why the city named the street after her. I relied on three document sources, the Villager newspaper article that appeared shortly after she died in 2011, the Community Board resolution co-naming the street, and the obituary I wrote for Tenant/Inquilino published July 2011.
