Betsy Russell Baker (August 20, 1842 – October 24, 1955) was a British-born American supercentenarian. She was the first listed supercentenarian by the Guinness World Records[citation needed] as the world's then-oldest person. In 2002, researchers confirmed she was the world's oldest living person by modern verification standards for an unknown period of time prior to her death on 24 October 1955.[1]

Born in Great Brington, England in the United Kingdom, she immigrated to the U.S. state of Nebraska. She died at Tecumseh, Nebraska, aged 113 years, 65 days, after living in Johnson County for 65 years[citation needed]. She was the second person in the world (after Delina Filkins) to have reached the age of 113 and to have been validated by modern standards.[1]
