"Wow"
Song

"Wow" (stylised as "WOW") is a song by Romanian recording artist Inna, released as the fifth single from her second studio album, I Am the Club Rocker. The song was written and produced by Inna's producers and managers Play & Win (Sebastian Barac, Marcel Botezan, Radu Bolfea). Inna uploaded the song on her YouTube channel two weeks prior the album's release, along with an internet video to "Put Your Hands Up" and "Endless". It was released as a promotional single in Romania, exclusively in order to promote the brand new opening of iTunes Store Romania. It was unlocked on September 4, 2011 for a limited period towards September 6 and it was then removed and finally re-uploaded once with the album's release on September 19, 2011. A cover for the track was shot in late September on a Romanian beach at the Black Sea shore. On April 5, 2012 an official music video was released on Inna's YouTube Account.[1]

Background

"WOW" was written, produced and arranged by Sebastian Barac, Marcel Botezan, Radu Bolfea, Inna's long-time producers who identify themselves as Play & Win. The track was recorded at the Play & Win Studios in Bucharest, Romania. It is a dance song, combining elements of Euro-NRG, Europop and dance-pop. Lyrically, the song invites listeners, especially Inna's fanbase of "Club Rockers", to join her in dance. Due to popularity among Inna's fanbase, the song was released as an official single later in 2012.

The line "WOW WOW WOW" is taken from the Duchess' Lullaby from Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, which parts of the music video is inspired by.

Composition

This record bears a resemblance to the classic Inna beat from old hits, such as "Hot" and "Sun Is Up".

Music video

A music video for the song was filmed in January–February, 2012. Its teaser premiered on Inna's official YouTube channel and via Facebook on March 28. It was released on April 5, 2012 on Inna's YouTube Account. It features Inna and a group of friends enjoying a sunny day in the beach. Inna is shown speaking in Spanish, as she had been improving that language in late 2011, due to the special support she had received from Mexico and Hispanic fans: "Oye, ¿cúanto tiempo tenemos más hasta la playa?". Suddenly, she's hit by an airball and faints. She dreams she's playing different roles in Wonderland. Elements from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Alice in Wonderland, and The Wonderful Wizard of Oz are depicted, while Inna sings and dances.

Chart performance

After its official airplay and video release on April 6, 2012, the song quickly entered the Romanian Top 100 at number seventy-seven on April 22, 2012 and reached number twelve on May 20, 2012. It then slide down to number seventeen and stayed there for two weeks. On June 10, 2012 it rose up and entered the top ten at number ten, becoming Inna's seventh top ten single. On the Russian Music Charts, "WOW" debuted at number 216 on April 29, 2012 and peaked at number 171.
