Dame Joan McVittie head teacher. She graduatedfrom Birmingham University with a BSc in Biological Sciences in 1974.[1][2][3]

Dame Joan is Headteacher of Woodside High School[4] in Haringey, North London. She is a past president of the Association of School and College Leaders.[1][2][3]

McVittie was appointed a Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire (DBE) in the 2013 New Year Honours for services to education.[1][2][3]
