The 2016 Rugby Championship will be the fifth edition of the expanded annual southern hemisphere Rugby Championship consisting of Argentina, Australia, South Africa and New Zealand.
The tournament was known for sponsorship reasons as The Castle Rugby Championship in South Africa, The Investec Rugby Championship in New Zealand, The Castrol Edge Rugby Championship in Australia and The Personal Rugby Championship in Argentina.
The 2016 Championship will return to its full 6-round format having been reduced in 2015 to 3 rounds. It will also be the first tournament where Argentina would have had a team compete in the Super Rugby, competing against Australia, New Zealand and South African opposition from February until August.
