Shaun Todd McBride (born July 7, 1987) is an American Artist and Social Media personality. He's known as a Snapchatter, Viner, and Youtuber. He is best known as Shonduras, on Snapchat, for his finger-drawings.[1]

History

Shonduras was born in West Point, Utah.[2] He has lived in multiple places throughout his life. He has previously lived in Arizona, Washington, Morgan, Utah, and Ogden, Utah. Shonduras currently lives with his wife, in Layton, Utah. He moved there in 2014. In August 2006 through August 2008, Shaun went on an LDS mission trip to Honduras.[3] When he got back home, his friends jokingly called Shaun, "Shonduras." It was a combination of "Shaun" and "Honduras." Thus his online name.

Discovery

Shonduras had, at first, made a Snapchat account to share his adventures with his family. He then started drawing on Snapchat, and sent his drawings to his family. He started getting popular after he had doodled an old lady, that had rainbow hair, into a pony. He had sent it to his sisters, and they showed it to their friends at school. They then started adding him to see more of his Snapchat art.[4] That is where his audience first started really growing. Shonduras is Snapchat's first homegrown celebrity.[5][6]

Traveling and Collaborations

Shonduras' audience has become so big that, by advertising through Snapchat, snapchatting has become his job.[7] It has allowed him to meet other celebrities, and travel.[8] Due to this, some of his past traveling includes Thailand, London, England, Toronto, Canada, many US states, and plenty of other countries. A few Viners he has collaborated with are Nicholas Megalis, Logan Paul, Jerome Jarre, Matthew Espinosa, and Rudy Manusco. He's also come to be friends with famous musicians, such as Twenty One Pilots, and Lil Wayne.

Snapchat Stories

Shonduras is constantly creating interesting, interactive content on Snapchat. He Snapchats every adventure of his, to share with his fans. His stories have included him flying in a helicopter over glaciers in Alaska, walking a tiger and riding an elephant in Thailand, and even him skateboarding at Lil Wayne's personal skatepark, with Lil Wayne himself. However, his stories can be simple, too. Such as him gaming with friends, skateboarding with friends, going to the dentist, or waiting at airports. No matter what he may be up to, he turns it into a fun and interesting Snapchat story. He often has mini contests on Snapchat that make his audience become creative in order to win. Shonduras participated in "SnapperHero." SnapperHero was Snapchat's very first webisode series, as well as Snapchat's biggest project ever.[9]

Nominations and Awards

In the 7th annual Shorty Awards, Shonduras was a finalist in "The best Snapchatter" category.[10] In the 5th annual Streamy Awards, Shonduras was nominated for both "Best Short Form Creativity" and "Best Snapchat Storyteller." SnapperHero, which Shonduras was a big part of, won the Streamy Award for "Best Short Form Creativity." Shonduras won the "Best Snapchat Storyteller" Streamy award.[11]
