Mazumdar Shaw Medical Centre is a NABH-accredited tertiary care hospital, [1] situated in ‘NH Health City’, Bommasandra Industrial Area, Bangalore, India. The facility is the result of a partnership between the Director of Biocon Limited, Kiran Mazumdar Shaw [2] and the Founder and Chairman of the Narayana Health Group, Dr. Devi Prasad Shetty. The Mazumdar Shaw Medical Center is recognized for Organ Transplants and supports Advanced Cancer Therapeutic facilities. [3]

Mazumdar Shaw Medical Center was established in 2000 and provides a gamut of medical, surgical and diagnostic facilities across clinical specialties.

Apart from housing 30 superspecialities, the facility is home to the Bone Marrow Transplant Unit; one of the largest in India, [4] with a special focus on the treatment of ‘thalassemia’. The hospital takes care of hematology and Bone Marrow Transplant services of the ‘Major S Nanjundiah and Shanta Nanjundiah Cancer Centre’, an oncology wing of Narayana Mulitspeciality Hospital in Mysore[5]. The unit has performed over 600 allogenic and autologous Bone marrow Transplants and has also performed heart, kidney and liver transplants for national and international patients. The unit is recognized for the Mazumdar-Shaw Cancer Center, which was established in 2009 and is rooted in organ-specific cancer care [6]. In 2013, Mazumdar Shaw Medical Centre launched Rural “Cancer Surveillance Program' in partnership with Narayana Health. The program is focusing on creating awareness and conducting preliminary screening of Head and Neck cancers in rural areas of Karnataka, India.[7][8]

The multispeciality hospital is one of the largest Cancer Therapeutic Facilities in the country [10] and is further supported by ancillary specialist centers including the Institute of Neurosciences, Institute for Kidney and Renal Care, Institute for Gastro Intestinal and Liver diseases, Pediatrics, Neonatal Care as well as Obstetrics and Gynecology. A stress laboratory, Radiation Oncology technology, gamma camera, Uro Dynamics and Audiometry are some of the many amenities that are sustained by the center.
