Salamat

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This is an old revision of this page, as edited by 80.94.146.18 (talk) at 12:33, 31 July 2017 (The statement I deleted is false. Salamat does not mean 'hope you feel better soon,' only the previously mentioned usage is correct. The informal way of saying 'hope you feel better soon' is from the same root but is not the same word.). Salamat is the word for "Thank You" in many Filipino languages, including Malaysia, Tagalog, Cebuano, and Hiligaynon. It most likely comes from the triliteral Semitic root S-L-M, due to Arab influence. In its Arabic form سلامات, it is also used as a greeting in many Arabic cultures.
