Barauli is a town and a notified area in Gopalganj district in the state of Bihar, India.
Geography
Barauli is located at 26°24′N 84°35′E / 26.4°N 84.58°E.[1] It has an average elevation of 65 metres (213 feet).
Demographics
As of 2001[update] India census,[2] Barauli had a population of 34,643. Males constitute 49% of the population and females 51%. Barauli has an average literacy rate of 41%, lower than the national average of 59.5%; with 64% of the males and 36% of females literate. About 20% of the population is under 6 years of age.
The Barauli Nagar Panchayat has population of 41,877 of which 20,806 are males while 21,071 are females as per report released by Census India 2011. Population of Children with age of 0-6 is 7095 which is 16.94 % of total population of Barauli (NP). In Barauli Nagar Panchayat, Female Sex Ratio is of 1013 against state average of 918. Moreover Child Sex Ratio in Barauli is around 976 compared to Bihar state average of 935. Literacy rate of Barauli city is 67.80 % higher than state average of 61.80 %. NH28 Passes Barauli, alongwith SH48 and SH 97. BArauli is well connected by Roads and Railways. It also serves a seat for a railway station on CHHAPRA-THAWE railroot named Ratansarai.[8]

Economy
Agriculture is the main source of income, with rice, wheat, pulses, fruits and vegetables being the main crop. Agriculture is the primary activity although tourism in nearby places like Areraj, Thawe and Keshria boosts economy of this town. This town supplies agricultural products like cauliflower, potato, mustard seed and other vegetables to neighbouring states. Although the economy is mainly based on agricultural products, Crackers are also manufactured in household industries.
