It would my judgement that it is not permissible for a Muslim to take the Prophets mentioned in the Qur'an as metaphorical beings - there is no precedent for this in Islam, and the hadith verify the actual existence of the prophets. I suggest you do your OWN research on Islam, from all sides. Unlike the glowing picture muslims will put forth, there is plenty of evil and hatred inherent in the religion. Behavior towards non-Muslims in Muslim-controlled lands is particularly barbaric, under the codes of Shari'a law (their "holy" law). Even the supposed "people of the book" (Jews and Christians) are referred to as "Apes and Pigs", who will be killed on their idea of the Last Day; the treatment given towards non-monotheists is even more barbaric.
