Sander L. van der Linden is a social psychologist on the faculty in the Department of Psychology at the University of Cambridge where he has directed the Cambridge Social Decision-Making Laboratory since 2016.[1] He is also a Fellow and Director of Studies in Psychological and Behavioural Sciences at Churchill College, Cambridge, a research affiliate of the Yale Program on Climate Change Communication at Yale University and the Winton Centre for Risk and Evidence Communication at the University of Cambridge.[2]

He was designated a "Rising Star" by the Association for Psychological Science in 2017 for his research on the psychology of fake news, climate change, and human cooperation in large-scale social dilemmas.[3][4]

He was a postdoctoral fellow and lecturer in the Department of Psychology at Princeton University and a visiting scholar at Yale University.[5][6] He earned his PhD from the London School of Economics and Political Science[2], a BSc from the University of Amsterdam and California State University, and a MSc in Human Development from Maastricht University.[7]

van der Linden studies the psychology of social influence, risk, human judgment, and decision-making. He serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Environmental Psychology and the Journal of Risk Research, among others.[8][9]
