Question for administrator

Someone deleted my school assignment. It is due in 2 hours can someone please help me get it back.

  • Another editor has posted a message about this, saying "This user was able to get the information needed from the deleted page." I don't know exactly what that means, but it seems to suggest that you have got away with using Wikipedia as a web host to store content for use unrelated to contributing to the encyclopaedia. If so, you are lucky, but please don't do it again. The editor who uses the pseudonym "JamesBWatson" (talk) 14:03, 2 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:

  1. Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment, or
  2. With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button located above the edit window.

This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.

Thank you. Drm310 🍁 (talk) 03:24, 2 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, thanks for message. You can sign your comments automatically using four tildes ~~~~. Please add your messages to the bottom of the talk page, or they may be overlooked, and add a heading. The editor who nominated it for deletion said A weakly-sourced product-placing advert for a non-notable company. Language/content is completely promotional. I deleted your article because

  • it did not provide independent verifiable sources to enable us to verify the facts and show that it meets the notability guidelines. Sources that are not acceptable include those linked to the company, press releases, YouTube, IMDB, social media and other sites that can be self-edited, blogs, websites of unknown or non-reliable provenance, and sites that are just reporting what the company claims or interviewing its management. Your references, other than those giving general background were not independent third-party sources but press releases, personal opinions and reviews. Note that references should not show bare urls
  • The notability guidelines for organisations and companies have been updated. The primary criteria has five components that must be evaluated separately and independently to determine if it is met:
  1. significant coverage in
  2. independent,
  3. multiple,
  4. reliable,
  5. secondary sources.
Note that an individual source must meet all four criteria to be counted towards notability. To show notability you need hard verifiable facts such as the number of employees, turnover or profits, not promotional text
  • it was written in a promotional tone. Articles must be neutral and encyclopaedic. Examples of unsourced or self-sourced claims presented as fact include: celebrates... not only creates top notch electric mowers but also specializes in creating other Cordless outdoor equipment. The company was founded on the important's [sic] of creating products that are innovative and are sustainable all while being a friend to our environment... This mower would be good for a home... some serious cutting power that can rival even gas mowers...— and so on, it's a sales pitch
  • there shouldn't be any url links in the article, only in the "References" or "External links" sections. That's particularly the case when it's a spamlink to the company's site.
  • When people write promos for a company, I normally ask if they have a conflict of interest, but since you say it's for homework I assume that's not the case.

Wikipedia is a serious on-line encyclopaedia, not a free homework resource, and I'm not prepared to restore such promotional text. Before attempting to write an article again, please make sure that the topic meets the notability criteria linked above, and check that you can find independent third party sources.
