Pakkoruotsi is a term used by some Finns. It refers to the fact that Swedish is compulsory in all Finnish schools from comprehensive schools to universities. Pakkoruotsi literally means "compulsory Swedish". About 6% of Finnish people speak Swedish as their mother language. A political party named RKP wants that Finland will have Swedish also in future.

The compulsory Swedish came to schools in 1970s when "Finlandization" was taking over, there was a need to show to other world that Finland was a part of Scandinavia and not like the East Block countries.
