The Mughal Museum, now known as the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Museum, is a museum planned to be built in the city of Agra, India.[1][2] The museum was announced by then-Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Akhilesh Yadav in 2015, and construction began in 2017.[3] As of September 2020, the museum is remains under construction.[4][5] Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath renamed the Mughal Museum after the Maratha king Shivaji. Shivaji did not have any significant association with Agra except for his imprisonment and subsequent daring escape from Agra.[6] Hence the critics have accused the CM for trying to change history.[3]
