Rewrite?

The information density is way too high, and in my humble opinion more than half of it is not notable.
The formatting is awful.
Spelling. Grammar. The works.

Quite agree: it was a total disaster. I've fixed it up, but there's a lot more work to be done here. Some decent references would be a start. There was some extreme POV about how men who didn't wear sikhas were exhibiting a "Hindu slave mentality" (actually, 'salve', but I think that was a typo) under the oppression of Muslim Mughals and the British, too. Transliteration

It seems to me that the anglicized form of Sanskrit शिखा should be Shikha or Śikha; the page, in other words, should be retitled. I'd do it myself but am not sure how.helio 20:46, 16 May 2012 (UTC)

Traditionally only the Brahmans were Hindus. Others became Hindus only around 1930s
