<<The expression "do-wacka-do" is a funny way of saying "do-like-I-do".>>
I noticed there's no reference for this claim. I always took the song to be an allusion tot he old southern/Texas saying "I wish I had his ______ and he had a feather up his butt and we'd both be tickled." My grandmother and uncles from Texas used to say this quite often to express envy, or when someone who didn't deserve it came into good fortune. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.203.250.24 (talk) 21:44, 3 July 2010 (UTC)
I have a reference for this http://www.vendio.com/mesg/read.html?num=28&thread=136438 but not sure how to get it into the article, perhaps a more experienced editor could clean it up. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.203.250.24 (talk) 21:53, 3 July 2010 (UTC)
1920s syncopation???
Surely this has roots in the 20s dance bands — Preceding unsigned comment added by 108.28.102.27 (talk) 22:00, 16 December 2016 (UTC)
