“For no reason”? Surely “but the reason is presently unknown”. There's a bit of a difference between not knowing a reason and there not being one at all! Nevalicori 14:53, 8 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sources?

Was this discussed in any media — perhaps in a magazine like Starlog, or some Oz fan publication? If anyone knows of any reliable sources discussing this pilot, please add references to them in the article. Thanks. —Josiah Rowe (talkcontribs) 02:05, 6 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The YouTube page containing the Lost in Oz pilot claims, "The LOST IN OZ pilot is believed to be public domain as it was never released, and possibly unfinished, thus uncopyrighted." That sounds legally dubious to me — surely the company that made the pilot would retain copyright, whether the program was released or not. IANAL, but I think that manuscripts have copyright whether they're published or not, and I would assume that the same thing was true of television pilots.

WP:COPYRIGHT#Linking to copyrighted works says that we shouldn't knowingly link to pages carrying illegal copyright violations. The YouTube site claims that it's OK, so I won't remove the link now — but if someone who knows copyright law comes along and says that it's a copyvio, it'll have to go. —Josiah Rowe (talkcontribs) 02:11, 6 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I asked at Wikipedia talk:Copyright problems#Unreleased television pilot: public domain?, and they said that just because it wasn't completed or aired doesn't mean that it isn't copyrighted. So we have to remove the link. Sorry. —Josiah Rowe (talkcontribs) 03:27, 6 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
