Zanjan is an Azerbaijani province and belongs to Geat Azerbaijan. Zanjan province, East Azerbaijan province, West Azerbaijan province, Ardebil province, Hamedan province and Qazvin province are called "Southern Azerbaijan" but Iranian government suppresses Turkish (Azerbaijani) language in South Azerbaijan and this is a kind of violation of human rights in Iran. Iranian government does not allow Zanjanis to study on Turkish (Azerbaijani) language. Although Zanjanis are Turk (Azerbaijani)but they do not have any TV on their language. We do not have any school in Turkish (Azerbaijani)language and if a person loves his or her mother language (Azerbaijani)is sent to prison.Nobody can name his or her baby a Turkish name and this is a kind of crime. When(IRAN newspaper)insulted to Turks by printing a caricature Zanjanis did two great demonstrations against persian and some Turks were arrested for this matter. user:80.191.195.18
- You might wanna take a look at Azeri page. Azeri ( at least those from Iran) are completly identical to Persians, Gilaki, Mazandari, Kurd and Baluch of Iran in terms of culture, genetics, traditions, etc. They only differ in their language. Stop calling them "Turk" they are Iranian/Aryan. Take ur none sense pan-Turk propaganda some place else. Wikipedia is not a place for political discussion.--74.12.105.221 (talk) 01:47, 28 March 2009 (UTC)
- I am just getting very tired of this so called "Great Azerbaijan" thing, once there is a topic involve northwest Iran and they are showed up. Look there is no one in Iran want to expell Azeris out of Iran like the Turkish did to Armeinians, so get used to it or you guys can just start a civil war against the Persian government, and if you win, you got reunited with north Azerbaijian and if you lose, you lose everything. So be brave my friend, all that I can telling you is people just gets nothing out of whining. Especially on the Internet. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 221.216.252.242 (talk) 15:07, 22 February 2012 (UTC)

The name in Azerbaijani
Zanjan in Azerbaijani language is spelled as Zəncan. Gülməmməd Talk 01:20, 20 July 2008 (UTC)
You are right about the Zanjan in Azeri. However, you should use the scripts that Azeris use in Iran--Larno Man (talk) 02:08, 28 July 2008 (UTC) use. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Larno Man (talk • contribs) 02:05, 28 July 2008 (UTC)
- What about other changes that you have made? I put effort on giving good introduction to the article but you just reverted me. Please note that the sentence in the beginning of the article which is about grapes is not okay - it just sounds funny. Zanjan is not famous only with grapes but also with its scientific institutions and their alumni. In your opinion one of the oldest historical provinces of Iran doesn't have anything famous except seedless grapes? Regarding the script, in this case the name in Azeri needs to be in both scripts to avoid complains. Gülməmməd Talk 03:29, 28 July 2008 (UTC)
Actually, although I reverted your introduction, I was going to add your introduction with adding sources. It sounds good to me but because of time shortage I reverted the whole edit aiming to restore constructive edits later. You may want to do it yourself. Regarding your suggestion, those complains are not legitimate. We can't put scripts of another country for Iranian provinces. --Larno Man (talk) 04:03, 28 July 2008 (UTC)

One more thing, your introduction is good and might be true, but it was unsourced. Please cite your information before adding new information. Wikipedia is based on verifiability and not truth (See: WP:VER)--Larno Man (talk) 04:09, 28 July 2008 (UTC)
- Yes, you are right, I should have cited my information as you did here:) and you need also to provide source for "Azeris in Iran don't use these scripts". Gülməmməd Talk 05:29, 28 July 2008 (UTC)
- Let me have a say in this too. Your addition on grapes is more than welcome. However it is not accepted to add the alphabet of the republic of azerbaijan to this article. It is simply irrelevant. Azerbaijani language in Iran uses another alphabet. You can see any Azerbaijani language publication in Iran. Just noting that some 20 million Azeris are using the alhabet of the Iranian Azeris while only some 6 or 7 million are using the latin alhabet since some 10-15 years ago. Judge yourself, which alphabet represents Azeri language more?--Babakexorramdin (talk) 12:46, 28 July 2008 (UTC)
- زنجان is perfect! It took me some time to get someone to tell me this word "Zəncan" as I thought it was correct one. Gülməmməd Talk 19:15, 28 July 2008 (UTC)

- Regarding the edits that you mentioned on Azeris article, this sentence is the abstract of a whole section overwhelmingly sourced by many scholarly references. An independent section discusses the Azeris origin. The introduction section introduces the article contents and refers readers to the main sections. Please take your time to read the main section. If you find out that the main section contain unsourced information feel free to challenge the section contents.
- Moreover, as I explained to your other friends. That sentence was not mine and I did not originally add it. I just reverted a vandalized version. We sometimes r.v. obvious vandalism by random users and restore the previous version, like what I did in that edit, it doesn't necessarily mean that I approve the whole contents of the previous version. For that specific article, there is consensus between different sides of the dispute on the current version, after years of dispute and edit warring. --Larno Man (talk) 14:17, 28 July 2008 (UTC)
- mmm...just I am curios, how long have you been here? I mean you speak such that you have been editing for years! The talk page of this province is empty, where that consensus has been reached? And also, do I have any friend here? I don't know you have explained to which of my friends and what you have explained.
I started editing these articles because they need improvement! Now, since the script problem is solved, please work back my edit. If you need references, you may wish to look into archives of the New York Times. I remember sometimes ago I saw a lot of direct or indirect information about Zanjan in those archives. - Well, you asked about this edit [1] and I responded.
- In regard to your effort to improve, feel free to re-add them if they are sourced. However, it is not the job of others to find reference for your edits. It is your job to provide sourced information. ;)--Larno Man (talk) 19:49, 28 July 2008 (UTC)
- Gulmammad thanks for your interest in zanjan ! i have changed introduction section. Also now i just begin katale khor article, i hope with your help we can all zanjan related article--Mardetanha talk 20:02, 28 July 2008 (UTC)
Pending changes
This article is one of a small number (about 100) selected for the first week of the trial of the Wikipedia:Pending Changes system on the English language Wikipedia. All the articles listed at Wikipedia:Pending changes/Queue are being considered for level 1 pending changes protection.
The following request appears on that page:
Many of the articles were selected semi-automatically from a list of indefinitely semi-protected articles. Please confirm that the protection level appears to be still warranted, and consider unprotecting instead, before applying pending changes protection to the article. |
However with only a few hours to go, comments have only been made on two of the pages.
Please update the Queue page as appropriate.
Note that I am not involved in this project any more than any other editor, just posting these notes since it is quite a big change, potentially.

Remove the name of province in Azeri language. It's unsourced and not an official name. 188.158.119.202 (talk) 00:44, 6 August 2014 (UTC)
Not done: please establish a consensus for this alteration before using the {{edit semi-protected}}

Please edit the area of Zanjan province in the text: "Zanjan province, with an area of 36,400 km².." - it should be "..21.773 km².." Tsuntze (talk) 15:06, 29 August 2016 (UTC)
- Not done for now: there are 2 figures used in the article, neither of which are sourced - the figure of 36,400 was added on 16 April 2004, so has been there for over 12 years without being challenged. Please also cite reliable sources to support one or other of these figures, without which no information should be added to, or changed in, any article. - Arjayay (talk) 15:38, 29 August 2016 (UTC)
