Wikipedia:Requested moves/Technical requests

If you are unable to complete a move for technical reasons, you can request technical help below. This is the correct method if you tried to move a page, but you got an error message saying something like "You do not have permission to move this page, for the following reasons:..." or "The/This page could not be moved, for the following reason:..."
If you are here because you want an admin to approve of your new article or your proposed page move, you are in the wrong place.

the - If you object to a proposal listed in the uncontroversial technical requests section, please move the request to the Contested technical requests section, append a note on the request elaborating on why, and sign with ~~~~. Consider pinging the requester to let them know about the objection.
- If your technical request is contested, or if a contested request is left untouched without reply, create a requested move on the article talk and remove the request from the section here. The fastest and easiest way is to click the "discuss" button at the request, save the talk page, and remove the entry on this page.

Uncontroversial technical requests
- Template:FCC-LMS-Facility (currently a redirect to Template:FCC Licensing and Management System facility) → Template:FCC Licensing and Management System facility (move · discuss) – expand template name per WP:TPN. HouseBlaster (talk · he/him) 00:27, 26 May 2024 (UTC)
- Wife ((G)I-dle song) (currently a redirect to Wife (song)) → Wife (song) (move · discuss) – No other articles about song titled "Wife" PepeBonus (talk) 09:04, 25 May 2024 (UTC)
- The song by Mitski appears to have enough coverage to make it notable and I don't think there's a PDAB primary topic. I've redirected the target to the main dab page for now. — Amakuru (talk) 11:00, 25 May 2024 (UTC)
- Unless and until Wife (Mitski song) gets its own article, this is unambiguous, per WP:SONGDAB. 162 etc. (talk) 19:27, 25 May 2024 (UTC)
- The question is whether it's notable or not, rather than whether there's an article... I see some sources giving the song coverage, therefore it might be notable. — Amakuru (talk) 22:03, 25 May 2024 (UTC)
- No, according to WP:SONGDAB, "unless more than one article about songs of the same name exist, there is no need to disambiguate any further." This is a well-established naming convention. 162 etc. (talk) 22:09, 25 May 2024 (UTC)

- HSBC (United Kingdom) (currently a redirect to HSBC UK) → HSBC (UK) (currently a redirect instead to HSBC UK) (move · discuss) – Abbreviate United Kingdom to UK. Professional Adriazeri (talk) 01:10, 25 May 2024 (UTC)
- A better title might be simply HSBC UK, which according to the lead is the actual name, and satisfies WP:NATURALDIS. — Amakuru (talk) 11:05, 25 May 2024 (UTC)
- Controversial issues surrounding Master (2021 film) (currently a redirect to Master controversies) → Master (2021 film) controversies (currently a redirect instead to Master controversies) (move · discuss) – Make shorter, WP:CONCISE. Example: Fahrenheit 9/11 controversies. Ancientbisons (talk) 07:41, 24 May 2024 (UTC)
- I don't feel the disambiguation format here is standard. Is there a better title that wouldn't put the parenthetical in the middle of the title? I am not a fan of Master controversies as Master is too general of a term. Although I do note that Master controversies does already redirect here. Bensci54 (talk) 16:08, 24 May 2024 (UTC)
- Master controversies seems fine. I can't think of any other article it would refer to. Station1 (talk) 05:08, 25 May 2024 (UTC)

- House of Bjelbo (currently a redirect to House of Bjälbo) → House of Bjälbo (move · discuss) – Bjälbo is much more common spelling in modern English literature. Compare the searches [1] and [2]. Jähmefyysikko (talk) 20:56, 25 May 2024 (UTC)
- War in Sudan (2023–present) (currently a redirect to Sudanese civil war (2023–present)) → Sudanese civil war (2023–present) (move · discuss) – Talk:War in Sudan (2023–present)#Requested move 18 May 2024 —Compassionate727 (T·C) 21:29, 25 May 2024 (UTC)
- Herlufmagle, Næstved (currently a redirect to Herlufmagle) → Herlufmagle (move · discuss) – municipality is not needed in the title 1857a (talk) 23:44, 25 May 2024 (UTC)

Contested technical requests
- Alpha Cephei → Alderamin (currently a redirect back to Alpha Cephei) (move · discuss) – This is by far the commonly-used name in the vast majority of reliable sources. Most peer-reviewed papers that give significant coverage in the star, use the name Alderamin. See some examples: [3] [4] [5] [6] [7]. A search in Google Scholar show that 19 sources use the name Alderamin, while only 7 use the name Alpha Cephei. InTheAstronomy32 (talk) 13:02, 23 May 2024 (UTC)
- This same move was disputed back in 2014, and while it's been a while, the editor who disputed is still active, which might beg for an RM to be safe, even if there is a strong case to be made here. ASUKITE 14:44, 23 May 2024 (UTC)
- Procedural note: That discussion was in 2024, not 2014. While I support this move, it's inappropriate for a technical request given that there was a RM just recently that failed - it needs a new RM. SnowFire (talk) 17:11, 23 May 2024 (UTC)

PAGE) 17:18, 23 May 2024 (UTC) - Thanks, I didn't even see the RM. I was referring to an old move from 2014, but the RM is much more relevant. ASUKITE 18:11, 23 May 2024 (UTC)

- Il Mare Calmo della Sera → Il mare calmo della sera (currently a redirect back to Il Mare Calmo della Sera) (move · discuss) – Italian-style capitalization; see Il mare calmo della sera (song) ~ IvanScrooge98 (talk) 09:44, 23 May 2024 (UTC)
- As this is released in English-speaking markets and generally styled with English capitalisation (e.g. [8][9][10]) I think this is probably correct as is. I'd capitalise Della as well though per the sources, because even if you treat it as a preposition then MOS:5LETTER would kick in. So my choice would be Il Mare Calmo Della Sera
- Wikipedia:Naming conventions (capitalization)#Works and compositions seems to suggest otherwise though. And I’m especially bothered by the fact that there are two articles with the same title but different capitalization. ~ IvanScrooge98 (talk) 12:39, 23 May 2024 (UTC)
- As a side note, the page history of Il Mare Calmo della Sera had been split over the years between Il mare calmo della sera, Il Mare Calmo Della Sera, and the present page. I have now performed a WP:HISTMERGE so hopefuilly that aspect is sorted out now. — Amakuru (talk) 13:44, 23 May 2024 (UTC)

- Smörgåsbord (currently a redirect to Smorgasbord) → Smorgasbord (move · discuss) – English dictionaries render this loanword without accent marks, therefore MOS:FOREIGN would suggest that should be the title —Showerlemon (talk) 19:07, 23 May 2024 (UTC)
- @Showerlemon: This move was already the subject of a failed move request at Talk:Smörgåsbord#Requested_move in 2010. - American open-wheel car racing → Indy car racing (currently a redirect back to American open-wheel car racing) (move · discuss) – WP:COMMONTERM RegalZ8790 (talk) 18:57, 22 May 2024 (UTC)
- Is it though? I'm not sure "indy car" really saw much use before the 1990s, retconning the entire history of American racing is at least worth a discussion. 162 etc. (talk) 05:02, 24 May 2024 (UTC)
- if i can chime in, the page is an overview of Indy car racing only, which has been known by that name since the 1950s. If it was an full histort of American racing it would also discuss the other open-wheel disciplines such as sprint cars, midget cars, super modifieds and modifieds. Not to mention the non-open-wheel of NASCAR and Drag Racing. The article itself is clear that the common term is Indy car. thank you 2605:59C8:10F0:1410:396E:69B0:4005:79DF (talk) 13:46, 25 May 2024 (UTC)
