Runaway car almost slams into Donald Trump's presidential motorcade as it passes through Missouri

Unstable people trying to hurt politicians. Is completely unacceptable. Not every politician is favored by the entire public. To go over the edge and attempt to hurt these people, most of which are trying to make our world better and some to further profit or recognition. At what point does somebody’s brain snap and attempt to hurt somebody else? on another note, I just saw today a quote;

“a house divided will surely fall” 108.35.154.107 (talk) 21:55, 13 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Possible addition

I've added Iranian plot to assassinate Donald Trump to the See also section. ---Another Believer (Talk) 16:11, 17 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

"involving"

Currently both the title and the first sentence of this article indicate that the scope is incidents "involving" Trump. However, thus far, the article is limited to ones that appear to target Trump. It doesn't include such incidents as the January 6 United States Capitol attack, which was clearly a security incident and in which he was involved in various ways. It doesn't include any claim of sexual assault committed by him (and that would open up the question of what is "security".) Might we want to replace one or both of those "involving"s with "targetting"? Or might we wish to widen the scope of the article? -- Nat Gertler (talk) 14:53, 23 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Cochella suspect

WP:BLPCRIME would seem to apply to the Cochella suspect, who is not convicted and is otherwise not notable. He should remain unnamed for now. -- Nat Gertler (talk) 02:48, 15 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Merge Vem Miller into Security incidents involving Donald Trump#2024 incident at Coachella rally? Ss0jse (talk) 13:55, 15 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
As above, the article shouldn't even exist. SirMemeGod14:02, 15 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Understood, but should the information in the article Vem Miller be merged into the section Security incidents involving Donald Trump#2024 incident at Coachella rally? Ss0jse (talk) 14:32, 15 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I think there is sufficient coverage here for now; this looks likely to not be a deep topic, there are signs that it was not an attempt on anyone's life, and it will not be of long-term interest. -- Nat Gertler (talk) 14:35, 15 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Sufficient coverage? I disagr—wait, what do you mean, "coverage"?
  • Not a deep topic? What do you mean, "deep"?
  • Signs of no intent to kill? I agree...at the moment...based on my subjective lack of knowledge right now on this topic.
  • It won't be of long-term interest? Well, if Attempted assassination of Donald Trump in Florida might be of some interest (even if not long-term interest), then why not this incident? Also, what does it matter whether interest in such incidents is long-term?
Ss0jse (talk) 14:44, 15 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
1. "Coverage": There is sufficient and reliable coverage at this article, a seperate one is unneeded.
2. "Not a deep topic": All Miller did was bring a firearm to a Trump rally. It isn't that complicated or a Rabbit hole.
3. Since reliable media isn't calling this an assassination attempt, then we treat as if it wasn't.
4. "Long-term interest": The difference is that Routh attempted to shoot Trump. All Miller did was bring a gun to a rally (heck, I could technically do that while having absolutely zero intent to kill someone).
Hope this clears it up. SirMemeGod14:50, 15 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • We have a section here on the incident, that's coverage.
  • There is not much that needs saying on the topic to cover it in the amount it deserves.
  • The Florida incident involves someone who was hiding with a gun with a stated intent to kill the president. That makes it a very different situation.
  • "What does it matter whether interest in such incidents is long term?" See WP:NOTNEWS, specifically "Wikipedia considers the enduring notability of persons and events. While news coverage can be useful source material for encyclopedic topics, most newsworthy events do not qualify for inclusion".

Thank you for the clarification, NatGertler and Sir MemeGod. Consider this merge discussion closed and this merge proposal rejected. Ss0jse (talk) 14:59, 15 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Merge discussion can also take place in Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Vem Miller (2nd nomination)#Vem Miller. Ss0jse (talk) 14:35, 15 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
