iCarly is an American sitcom which premiered on September 8, 2007 on Nickelodeon.

Synopsis

Miranda Cosgrove (who also starred as Megan Parker, alongside Drake Bell and Josh Peck, in Drake & Josh) stars as Carly Shallow, a girl who starts her own web show. Jennette McCurdy plays her best friend and web show co-host, Sam. Carly's neighbor Freddie, played by Nathan Kress, is the web show's technical producer — he has a huge crush on Carly.

Production

iCarly was originally ordered by the Nickelodeon network for 13 episodes in its first season. But before the series ever premiered, the network increased the order to 20 episodes, and then 40 episodes (an extremely large order for a new television series).

The show was first nationally promoted by its star, Miranda Cosgrove, on NBC's Today Show on August 2, 2007.

The show was created by Dan Schneider, who is the "creative force" behind many previous Nickelodeon hit series including All That, Kenan & Kel, The Amanda Show, Drake & Josh, and Zoey 101. iCarly is unique from previous Nickelodeon shows in that it asks its audience send it their own personal video clips, which are then incorporated into episodes of the series. Miranda Cosgrove, with Drake Bell on backup, sings the series' theme song, called "Leave it All to Me." Promos of the series started airing on March 31, 2007 during the 2007 Kids' Choice Awards. iCarly was created by Dan Schneider, who also serves as the show's Executive Producer. A sneak preview of the show aired on August 4, 2007 on Nick.
