Hello, I am Camaron (Cameron, Christopher) who happens to be a user of Wikipedia. My user name is a set of letters put together in my mind to form a word; as a result it has no direct connection to articles using the word Camaron, or any person living or dead.

I created this user account on 16 March 2007 and have been seen editing Wikipedia with it since then. I became a administrator on 3 January 2008 after a successful request for adminship.

My main interests are in architecture, environment, geography, aviation, computers, video games and traveling the world; this can often reflected in the edits I make to Wikipedia. In general life I completed my GCSEs at secondary school in June 2007, and I am now at sixth form college to study geography, environmental science, biology, and history at A Level.

My to do list

Below is a list of general tasks I need to do on Wikipedia in order of priority, with each having a status of progress. I periodically remove old items from this list.

  1. Finish User:Camaron/Adminship recall/Policy. checkY Done
  2. Clean-up Eurovision Song Contest 2008. checkY Done
  3. Assess Tiffin School. checkY Done
  4. Clean-up and expand the SimCity Societies article. ☒N Not done
  5. Do general cleanup for articles in Category:Schools in Hampshire. ☒N Not done
  6. Expand The Petersfield School article.    Doing...
  7. Expand the SimCity 4 article. ☒N Not done
  8. Consider creating a SimCity Societies: Destinations article. ☒N Not done
  9. Expand the Alton College article. ☒N Not done
  10. Clean-up the General Certificate of Secondary Education article, and re-write the 'Criticism' section. ☒N Not done

My contributions

As a member of various WikiProjects, I have contributed significantly to the following articles:

I help assess articles for WikiProject Schools and help with quick maintenance and vandalism cleanup for a variety of articles I come across. I am often working on projects and ideas in my sandbox. I have created a essay, Wikipedia:Potential, not just current state, and I am working on policy creation work at Wikipedia:Naming conventions (schools), Wikipedia:Naming conventions (U.S. schools), and Wikipedia:Notability (schools). I do administrator work at Category:Candidates for speedy deletion, Category:Proposed deletion, Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism, Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, and Wikipedia:Requests for page protection.

My thoughts

I think...

  • Stubs should be kept if they have potential for a good article to be written on their subject. Deletion should be avoided unless an article has no potential or all its content is completely against Wikipedia policy.
  • School articles on secondary schools and colleges are generally notable enough for their own article.
  • Primary schools need to establish notability through awards, alumni, news coverage, and similar to be notable enough for their own article.
  • Articles maintaining a neutral point of view is difficult but a must in the success of Wikipedia.
  • Images help brighten up Wikipedia and their inclusion in articles should be encouraged.
  • Templates should generally be put at the top of articles so everyone can see them easily; unless a template refers to a specific article section, in this case it should be placed at the top of that section.
  • Adding templates to articles is no big deal.
  • Dates on Wikipedia should generally always be written in a 1 January 2000 format to allow them to variate with user preferences.
  • Consensus is a key part of Wikipedia.
  • Policies are very important but every issue should be dealt with on a case by case bases.
  • Assuming good faith and civility help keep Wikipedia in one piece and should always be remembered.
  • Discussion should always be put before edit wars.
  • Requests for adminship is not broken but could be improved.
  • Adminship is no big deal.
  • Being an administrator does not make you a good editor, but you can be a good editor while being an administrator.

My messages of thanks

I would like to thank the following users for the help they have given me while editing Wikipedia...

My accounts

When I first started editing Wikipedia I used a variety of IP addresses; I then for a short-time used the account Compromise (talk · contribs) to occasionally participate in building Wikipedia, however I never considered myself to have "joined" Wikipedia until I started using this account, orginally called Camaron1. I changed my username on 11 January 2008 to Camaron.

All edits I now make to Wikipedia are on the account Camaron, with the exception of when I use a set-up alternate account called Camaron2 (talk · contribs), which I use for security reasons when editing from internet connections that appear to be insecure. I also have several doppelganger accounts which are not in use and are to avoid impersonation by vandals. I have an account under the name of Camaron at:
