Tal Wilkenfeld
Tal Wilkenfeld (born Sydney, Australia, ca. 1986) is an Australian bass guitarist and guitarist performing in the genres of rock, jazz, funk, jazz-funk, and jam music.
Wilkenfeld dropped out of high school and emigrated to the United States in 2002. She first lived in Los Angeles but soon moved to New York City, where she lives today. When she came to the United States she was trained as a guitarist, but within a year switched to the bass guitar, giving up the guitar.[1]
She has performed with such notable musicians as Chick Corea, Jeff Beck, Hiram Bullock, Vinnie Colaiuta, Steve Vai, Susan Tedeschi, the Allman Brothers Band, Jeff "Tain" Watts, and Wayne Krantz. She has toured with Jeff Beck and her performance with him at the Crossroads Guitar Festival was aired on PBS in November 2007. Unfortunately no credits were given for Beck's band, and viewers have confused her with Becky Godchaux or even Beck's daughter. (The DVD of the concert gives full band personnel listings, including her name.)
Her first solo CD, recorded in 2006 for the Waterfront label, is entitled Transformation.
Wilkenfeld is an official endorser of Sadowsky bass guitars and strings.[2]
