James Frey (born 1969) is an American writer, author of the memoirs A Million Little Pieces (2003) and My Friend Leonard. The former, written in stark prose that eschews most grammatical rules and punctuation, documents his time in rehab as he struggles to overcome alcoholism and drug addiction.

He is originally from Cleveland; he is currently married and living in New York City with his wife and daughter.

In September 2005, Oprah Winfrey chose A Million Little Pieces as a selection for her book club.
