Dehu Road is a cantonment town in Pune district in the state of Maharashtra, India.

Demographics

As of 2008 India census[1], Dehu Road had a population of 50,900. Males constitute 52% of the population and females 48%. Dehu Road has an average literacy rate of 76%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 83% and, female literacy is 67%. In Dehu Road, 11% of the population is under 5 years of age.

Overview

Being a cantonment the population in Dehu Road is very diverse with people from various states of India having settled here. The newly constructed Mumbai-Pune Express highway starts from Dehu Road. It is connected to the Pune city proper via the Old Pune-Mumbai Highway. Dehu Road has many schools with one of the oldest and most prominent English medium school being St. Jude High School earlier known as the Garrison School. Kendriya Vidyalaya No 1, Dehu Road is one of the oldest KVs in India is situated here. Shri Shivaji Vidayala is also the oldest Marathi (state-level language) medium School as the oldest school in the region. This school has students from 10-15 small towns around Dehu Road.

It is surrounded by Kiwale, Vikas Nagar, Ravet, Adarsh Nagar, Chinchol, Indrani Nagar, Mamurdi, Sai Nagar, etc like small towns. The recent development in Vikas Nagar area has made it as the one of the dense and fastest developing area in town. Some of the attractions around the towns include are Dehuroad Bazar, Murugesh Temple, Maruti Mandir established by Saint/Sant Ramdas etc. Dehuroad Bazar is especially famous for zonal shopping and cheap prices with large collections of different merchandise. There are many Central Govt. departments especially Military and Cantonment area.

Dehu-Road is also surrounded by rivers from all sides with lash greenery everywhere. Towards Bombay side its surrounded by Indrani river, to the west ravet river which flows across to east and passess between pimpri-Chinchwad area.

Both local train and bus facilities are available to reach Dehu-Road from Pune. Its almost equidistant from both sides from Pune and Lonavala. Climate and whether condition is excellent here and suits to everyone who comes to this place.

Its also very close to both IT parks in Pune Hinjawadi as well as Talawadi.
