Chaclacayo is a district of the Lima Province in Peru.

Location

Chaclacayo is located in the 27th km at the Carretera Central, main road starting in Lima urban center all the way up to the East.

Geography

Chaclacayo is a city at the valley of the Rimac river that runs from the Peruvian Andes peruanos to the Pacific Ocean.

Name

It is derived from the aymara word that means "At the foot of the carrizo". The "carrizo" is a plant that grows at the Rimac's riverside.

Main attractions

Places to visit in Chaclacayo are without doubt the Parque Central, the central park of the district. Around the park there are a few landmarks: a well-known bakery, an evangelical church and a bazaar.

Miscellaneous

The peculiar shape of the district have made some think of Huampaní and Ñaña as being part of it. However they belong to the neighboring district of Lurigancho.
