Baddha Koṇāsana The Sanskrit word baddha means a bond, chain, caught or restrained. The word pada means foot, and kona means corner or angle therefore this is the restrained-foot-angle posture. This asana is also known as the Cobbler pose or the Bound Angle pose after the typical sitting position of Indian cobblers, is an excellent groin- and hip-opener. The baddha-konasana is one of the few postures that can be practiced comfortably soon after eating. Baddha Konasana is therapeutic for flat feet, high blood pressure, infertility, and asthma.
