MLB All-Star Game

I can't find this anywhere, perhaps I am not looking in right spot. I've read All-Star game article and the records page: Who has made the MLB all-star team with the most teams? I ran across Moises Alou doing it with five teams and thought that must be close to the record? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.206.71.72 (talk) 03:55, 6 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I can't imagine anyone making the All-Star game with more teams. Major League Baseball All-Star Game records does not mention this record. The first guy I though of who might beat it would have been Gary Sheffield, who made 9 all-star games with 5 teams (1992 & 1993 Padres, 1996 & 1998 Marlins, 1999 & 2000 Dodgers, 2003 Braves, 2004 & 2005 Yankees), thus only tying Alou. Maybe Baseball Bugs can chime in, but I can't think of any really good player who played for that many teams. --Jayron32 04:24, 6 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
The page "Miscellaneous All-Star Game records" of the Baseball Almanach [1] has this blurb at the end which confirms the answer above: "Did you know that Gary Sheffield of the San Diego Padres (1992 & 1993), Florida Marlins (1993, 1996 & 1998), Los Angeles Dodgers (1998, 1999 & 2000), Atlanta Braves (2003) and New York Yankees (2004 & 2005), AND Moises Alou of the Montreal Expos (1994), Florida Marlins (1997), Houston Astros (1998 & 2001), Chicago Cubs (2004) and San Francisco Giants (2005) has represented the most teams over a career during All-Star Games?" A few players have represented 4 different teams, including Goose Gossage (Chicago White Sox, Pittsburgh Pirates, New York Yankees and San Diego Padres). --Xuxl (talk) 14:13, 6 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

If I'm on TV show countdown with the lovely Rachel Riley and before the last letters round (i.e. including the final numbers round and the conundrum) I'm winning, can I select all consonants in the final letters round so that my opponent can't score enough points to put them in a position where if they won the numbers and the conundrum they would win? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.132.25.208 (talk) 18:38, 6 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

possible jetsons animated movie voice cast

I am thinking of talking to worner brothers to make a new animated jetsons movie. Can you please help me find some good voice actors and who they should play? I would appreciate it so much. 204.112.104.172 (talk) 02:26, 7 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Even bigshot Hollywood producers and directors — and something tells me you are not this type of bigshot — don't cast their voice actors right off a list. The process of voice casting (a tiny stub article on Wikipedia, surprisingly — even Casting (performing arts) is super short) involves contacting the agents of great voice actors, of whom Dan Castellaneta and Hank Azaria are currently probably the kings. If they're interested, then even they have to audition for the voice roles; the producer or director sends the agent the script, and the actor typically spends a couple of hours in his favorite local studio, recording the auditions for many roles in a single session (to save money and time). The producer or director, or, actually more likely, their casting director, listens to 10 or 20 tapes and makes choices accordingly. So, assuming you have the Hollywood power and credibility that would be necessary to get WB to listen to you about this awesome task of creating the Jetsons movie, I'd start by reviewing the credits of animated movies that have characters whose voices you have loved. Actually what you would do is have your casting director do all of this for you. Comet Tuttle (talk) 03:12, 7 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Also, any Jetsons movie would be originated within Warner Bros. or Hanna-Barbera or Cartoon Network, not by some random person who can't spell "Warner." Trivialist (talk) 21:33, 7 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

re: possible jetsons movie

how do people who think a movie should be made but do not live in holliwood get an idea to a company. Would e-mailing the idea to them for consideration work? Because i think it is high time that a new style jetsons animated movie should be made. I would like to know what to do to convince someone like ccraig McCracken to help me with a movie like this, as i am a big fan of some of his shows. And voice actors i particularly like, most of them have been on shows such as futurama, kids next door, foster's home for imaginary friends, danny phantom, the life and times of juniper lee, wordgirl, kim possible, and other such shows I do not mean i am going to actualy make the movie, i am just wondering about if they take my idea, and or if i can get someone like Craig McCracken to help me do this, even though i live in canada. I should have reworded my question above, so i will here. If they did make a new animated jetsons movie, who do you think would do the voices for what characters on it? Sorry i didn't put it that way before.

Please answer ASAP, my idea may depend on it!

204.112.104.172 (talk) 05:00, 7 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sure there are many ways to contact a company with ideas – email, snail mail, telephone etc. – but I'm also pretty sure that the companies in question (such as WB) receive thousands of such communications every year, and most likely pay little attention. If you are very lucky you may receive a form letter from some PR drone explaining that they won't be following up your suggestion. A better method may be to try to drum up support for such an idea and create a buzz amongst fans – if enough people seem keen on the idea the studios may take notice, but that too is a very long shot.
As for your question about who might star in the hypothetical Jetsons movie, that kind of speculation isn't really what the reference desk is for and you may wish to ask such questions in a more appropriate forum. Try searching the web for relevant discussion boards, fansites and the like. AJCham 05:48, 7 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
For the last twenty years at least, the major movie studios have avoided taking unsolicited ideas from the public. They all fear that if you write them a letter with a movie idea or outline, then even if they don't read the letter, 10 years will go by, the movie studio will come out with a movie that has similar elements, and then you will appear from the woodwork and sue them vengefully for copying your intellectual property. This happens regularly; there's at least one such lawsuit going on over Twilight. Disney, for example, is one movie studio which, if you send them an unsolicited script, will have a paralegal send you back a form letter saying "We didn't even read your script". What I might do in the position of the original poster is to (a) write the best Jetsons movie script that is possible for a human to write; obtain a talent agent, and have the agent sell the script to WB or an interested producer. Obviously a tall order. (B) Start a Facebook group called "We want an animated Jetsons movie!" with whatever details are relevant, and try to promote it and get 7 million Facebook users to "Like" the group. WB, and whoever else owns any rights to the Jetsons, won't be able to help but take notice. Comet Tuttle (talk)

Thanks Comet Tuttle, but what can i do, would suggesting a cast to them work? and as for that relevent formem, let's forget about it, as it does not exist. Please leave my poor spelling out of this, can you please keep your answers away from 'spelling mistakes'? 204.112.104.172 (talk) 04:29, 8 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

jetsons the 1990 movie voice of judy

who was a better voice for Judy Jetson, Janet Waldo or Tiffany. If you can't answer here, go to my talk page, there, i have a mini forem there where i am open for oppinion. Wikipedia is not a forum, either here or on your talk page. (Someone is bound to come along and delete your talk page, now that you've said that.) Anyway, there is no opinion here anyway because clearly the answer can only be Janet Waldo. Adam Bishop (talk) 15:37, 7 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
You're probably better off asking something like that in a 'off-topic' or 'lounge' section of a proper forum, rather than Wikipedia, if you want opinions. Chevymontecarlo 22:04, 7 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Do you have some specific criteria to tie to your question? As pointed out above, this is not the forum for generic opinion type questions. --OnoremDil 20:17, 7 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, it'd be easier to answer, and more neutral, if there was a criteria, like for example 'most appearances' or 'highest paid', rather than just that open-ended question that's really a matter of opinion. Chevymontecarlo 22:03, 7 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
You can check out who recently won awards for best voice acting: For example: The Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Voice-Over Performance, the Annie Award (2007 winners here, scroll down a bit). or the Voicey Award. There is also a Tokyo Anime Award for voice acting and there are the Seiyu Awards. I'm sure there are more. ---Sluzzelin talk 00:33, 8 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

clairification on my previous question

i do not mean an oppinion thing, i just mean who are the most tallented male and female voice actors livving today. Not a forem, just a curiosity. PS: I've had enough of people telling me about not a forem, it's getting redundant now. 204.112.104.172 (talk) 20:35, 7 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

But you don't seem to get it. There is no absolute truth about who is the most talented voice actor. It's all a matter of opinion. A forum is a place where such opinions can be traded and expressed, but the Reference Desk is not such a place. We deal in factual things that can be looked up in a reference book, like how many people died in the New Orleans hurricane, or what is the capital of Nigeria, or how many Prime Ministers of Iceland have there been. Not things like, who is the hottest catwalk model. See the difference? -- Jack of Oz ... speak! ... 21:11, 7 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Jack FM Regional Playlists

I am a big fan of the radio franchise Jack FM (despite how they "play what they want"). I have skimmed the article but have not figured out: Is the playlist varied in size depending on which station it is? EG, does one in California have more/different songs than one in Massachusetts? If anybody knows (or cares) please give feedback, or at least a neutral response. Thanx. 2Ð ℳǣ$₮ℝʘ talk, sign 20:59, 7 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I don't personally listen, but I probably wouldn't think the playlist would be dramatically different between two places - music trends/styles tend to be the same or at least similar everywhere. Chevymontecarlo 22:01, 7 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Production code number, probably. LANTZYTALK 02:19, 8 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

If you're talking about List of What's with Andy? episodes, "Don't Shoot the Messenger" is episode 56. Since they started the production codes at 101 (for whatever reason), the production code is thus 156. Adam Bishop (talk) 05:55, 8 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
They may have started at 101 to indicate season 1, episode 01. "Don't Shoot the Messenger" is the fourth episode in season 3, so 304 would fit with that reasoning (although production and airing schedules can differ). Which source uses that production number? Our current source is EPGuides.com but maybe that is mistaken and our article needs correcting. AJCham 06:34, 8 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Dear wikipedians, i tried creating a TV.com account, and it failed. I am turning to you people again, and i would like a more rellevent answer to this question please. No more talking about forems, as i mention on my talk page, the forem that was created was not by me. 204.112.104.172 (talk) 10:03, 8 August 2010 (UTC) It is simple, who could do voices for the characters in a new jetsons animated movie. My chances of failing to find out from this reference are as low as yuki nagato from some show has of coming into real existence and saying "hi" to me, which is 0%, in other words, i will stop at nothing to make this jetsons movie a success. A better answer, not about forems or what to do or what not to do, unless it will get me names for those characters, simple really. I mean no harm, I just want to make a good movie that is still authenticly jetsons that people will love for years to come! just help me pleaseeeee! No more telling me to forget it, if i se that again, put it this way, comet tuttles will hear about it, and i will ask him/her, as they seem like a helpful person. You removed this remark I placed on your talk page but it applies equally here:

"The deal is, you stop turning this page into a forum and we stop telling you not to do it. Simple, really."
And is the "Annika" you say is posting on your talk page without your consent also blind? I ask because she seems to make the same spelling mistakes that you do. Britmax (talk) 10:39, 8 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I will look in to it, some people make the same mistakes, it's a big world, and don't use blindness as descrim man, please. I don't know anything about her, i know her name is Annika, and I notice that too. Either she is coppying me, or both of us are bad at our spelling. I can only find out so much about her, but let's stay on the subject. I just want a few names, eg: Tress McNeille. I am going to talk to Comet Tuttles now, and if they have anything to say about this, it would probably be something like "Just answer his question and it will be over." What's wrong in wanting a movie made? These people think it's a crime to want to make a movie! 204.112.104.172 (talk) 11:03, 8 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Nothing's wrong with wanting a movie to be made, but this is not the appropriate venue for your questions. You've been told that several times and yet you continue. Furthermore you seem to suggest you will keep going until you get a satisfactory response. Such action would be disruptive and could get you blocked. Seriously, stop this now – this reference desk serves a useful purpose and by trying to misappropriate it for your own ends you are ruining the experience of others and wasting people's time. AJCham 11:25, 8 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

This is Annika. Can you just answer his question? I have a confession to make, and I could’t care less if I am making it in the wrong place. I was messing with his talk page, I did try to put up a forum to help him, and I did copy his spelling mistakes as best I could, as I want to get into a business of typing. No britmax, I am not blind, Is it because I copied his spelling mistakes? Anyway, just answer his question with some names, I saw his message to me, He is not what I thought he was. For the good of this reference section, please answer his question relevantly, and remember, you are talking to him, not me, thanks. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 204.112.104.172 (talk) 11:32, 8 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I will act for the good of this reference section. Unfortunately for your aims my feeling is still that this is best served by reminding you (whoever you are) that this is not a forum. Do you mean soccer, American, Aussie Rules, rugby, or all of the above? Britmax (talk) 08:42, 8 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Such clarification is unnecessary, in most of the world it's quite clear which sport is being referred to. --Viennese Waltz talk 08:52, 8 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

OK, which is it then? Britmax (talk) 08:55, 8 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Sigh, soccer of course. I don't know the answer by the way, and such information is rarely made available by the clubs. --Viennese Waltz talk 09:02, 8 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Why do you assume that? Some of these American Football players are quite highly paid. And the questioner may want to know which American Football player is paid the most without reference to soccer at all. In soccer, according to a couple of searches I did it would be Lionel Messi. At the moment. Britmax (talk) 09:08, 8 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Because on the balance of probabilities he's talking about soccer. Because he said in the world and there are precious few players of any type of football except soccer outside the USA. Because he's in Singapore. And so on. --Viennese Waltz talk 09:21, 8 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
And because Americans seldom call gridiron players "footballers". Deor (talk) 09:27, 8 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
(edit conflict) I may be wrong, but I don't think it is usual for an American to refer to a football player as a 'footballer', instead preferring the aforementioned term 'football player'. As far as I can tell almost all references to gridiron players as 'footballers' tend to be made by foreigners (from a US perspective) for whom football more usually means soccer or another variant. If the OP was such a person they would have almost certainly disambiguated 'American footballers' if necessary. If they were referring to rugby or Aussie Rules one would expect them to be aware enough of the sport's relatively lesser status globally and therefore disambiguate those also.
In answer to the question this source indicates that it is Lionel Messi who earns $43.3m a year. That includes endorsements as well as his reputed $292k/pw salary (~$15m per annum), though I expect that is a record on its own – it's almost 50% higher than Ronaldo's paltry $200k. Of course that report is now two months old so who knows what has changed since then, and what will change in the coming weeks prior to the closure of the transfer window. Also, you'll have noticed that the linked report only lists players from the World Cup, and as such David Beckham is not mentioned. However, reports such as this from the Telegraph indicate that Messi outranks him anyway. AJCham 09:52, 8 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Interesting that Americans tend to call Gridiron players that rather than footballers. I doidn't know that. Britmax (talk) 10:08, 8 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
They don't. In North America, we tend to refer to our athletes as "***** players", with ***** being whatever sport it is. Exceptions may including bowling and darts. Aaronite (talk) 18:03, 8 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

And Herb who eats erbs in the US but herbs everywhere else. -- 202.142.129.66 (talk) 04:33, 9 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Sports Illustrated just tackled this question with their Fortunate 50 U.S. and highest 20 international athletes ranked by total income from playing + endorsements. (Unfortunately, to the writer, "international" means "foreigners" — David Beckham is on the "international" list though he's playing for Major League Soccer in the US — so to get the real "international" list you'll have to open the two web pages and read them simultaneously.) It looks like the answer to the original poster's question is Lionel Messi, as mentioned above; in total, five athletes worldwide appear to have earned more than Messi in the past year. Why do sports players often spit?

Hello, does anybody know why sports players often spit in the game? --Merry Rabbit (talk) 13:24, 8 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I can only comment on this from my own experience of participating in sports, but I notice that as I become less hydrated the saliva which builds up in the mouth has a thicker consistency, even coming close to the consistency of a light syrup. This combined with shortness of breath makes swallowing very difficult, even leading to choking/coughing, so one feels forced to spit to get rid of excess saliva. My level of fitness and quality of diet are, however, severely lacking compared to professional athletes, so my experience may not be analogous to theirs. AJCham 13:59, 8 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

To get rid of 'flem' or 'spit' from their mouth which may be making it more difficult to breath as easily/comfortably. Obviously there's potentially spitting 'at' people out of aggression, perhaps even some doing it out of 'habit' or 'nerves' or something but generally it'll be to get spit out of their mouth. If you've ever been bunged-up and player sports it can be quite annoying the amount of liquid your body produces for you. ny156uk (talk) 14:03, 8 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

See Frenchy Bordagaray for a semi-related anecdote. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots23:26, 8 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Another famous spitting incident, in the world of footballers, involved Frank Rijkaard and Rudi Völler in 1990 (but I don't think this is the kind of spitting Merry Rabbit is asking about). ---Sluzzelin talk 23:33, 8 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Back in the old days, much of the spitting in baseball games was a result of the players' fondness for chewing tobacco, although our article says that this is now prohibited. Deor (talk) 00:45, 9 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
There was much media ado about Francesco Totti's spitting at Christian Poulsen during a UEFA Euro 2004 game. --Theurgist (talk) 06:53, 9 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! I'm from fi-wikipedia and I try to make article about Alameda County eature article (Now GA). Can someone listed some biggest newspapers, radio channels and etc. media for me? And if someone do that, can you please note me for that :)-Henswick (talk) 15:26, 8 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

What anime is this character from?

I have no idea as to what she is from, I have only seen in several AMVs and it is always the same scene. Nobody seems to know what she is from. Thanks. http://img535.imageshack.us/img535/69/unknowngirl.jpg —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.55.9.68 (talk) 03:41, 9 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Matching it up on tineye, it keeps coming up in videos for Zodiac 12, which appears to be hentai. -- kainaw 16:01, 9 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Well, I tried using that Tineye thing and it only came up with one image which was a link to a dailymotion video that wasn't there anymore. But I don't think Zodiac 12 is the name of the anime, going by the url of the missing video I think that was a username by a person who has a video containing that image in a playlist. Also searching for Zodiac 12 in anime didn't bring any results. So I am still looking for an answer. Thank you though. 68.55.9.68 (talk) 20:06, 9 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

There was a very old short animation about building a battle ship by animals and an eagle acting as a music conductor. What is it's name? And what production house who made it? I think it's from US.

There was a very old short animation about building a battle ship by animals and an eagle acting as a music conductor. What is it's name? And what production house who made it? I think it's from US. And there was other animation that I want to know the name too, I think they were produced in the same period. It's about pastry man and elves. The story is similar to the elves and the shoemaker but it's an old baker. —Preceding unsigned comment added by คิดถึงวันเก่า (talkcontribs) 03:43, 9 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The latter might be Busy Bakers, I don't know the first one, but here are some conducted builders, and here's some boat building animals. meltBanana 20:17, 10 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you very much MeltBanana. The latter is what I'm looking for exactly. But the first one is neither of them. The battleship that they built was made of steel. Thanks a lot anyway. —Preceding unsigned comment added by คิดถึงวันเก่า (talkcontribs) 08:11, 11 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Mr. Jordan

I was watching Road To Morocco earlier, and in a scene where the ghost of Aunt Lucy (played by Bob Hope) is talking to Bing Crosby's character, she mentions a Mr. Jordan, who's from the "other side". Is it the same Mr. Jordan that is a main character in Down To Earth? 24.189.87.160 (talk) 03:48, 9 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Sort of. Road to Morocco was released in 1942, so it couldn't have alluded to Down to Earth (1947), which hadn't been made yet. Down to Earth was a sequel to—and much less popular than—Here Comes Mr. Jordan (1941), and the latter is what the allusion was to. It is "the same Mr. Jordan", though. mystery singer

Edward J. Lakso wrote songs for two different episodes of Charlie's Angels. "Home" was sung by Lynne Marta for the episode, 'Catch a Falling Angel'. But in, 'Angels on the Street', who could be heard singing, "If I Could See"? If more information is out there, please let me know. Thank you.24.90.204.234 (talk) 22:22, 9 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Harvest Moon 64 recipes

I've searched all over the internet, and cannot find a complete list of recipes for Harvest Moon 64 (N64). All the lists I find have only 35 recipes, while there are 48-ish spots available. Does anybody have a complete list of the recipes?

76.244.159.153 (talk) 00:51, 10 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Just because there are spots, doesn't mean they will be filled. I don't see any reason to think there are more than 35 recipes. 90.195.179.60 (talk) 14:07, 10 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Indeed, this guide specifically states that spaces 36-48 are blank. 90.195.179.60 (talk) 14:09, 10 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

It's called "My Prayer", there are many recorded versions, I don't know the singer here. --Viennese Waltz talk 12:04, 10 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
No wait, the video tells us that it's an excerpt (a rather nice one, I must say) from the film Mischief, from where it's but a short hop to the film's IMDB entry which tells us that this version is by The Platters. --Viennese Waltz talk 12:07, 10 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Jodie Foster's personal life

In the personal data of your article about Jodie Foster, you have not mentioned her place (city or State) of residence. it seems to me for her to remain the private person she is, that she must not live in or around L.A. Am I correct in this assumption? I am curious as to where she calls home.207.172.194.51 (talk) 19:19, 10 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

As with most celebrities, she likely has multiple homes. Being fluent in Italian and having shown a lot of interest in Italy in the past, I strongly suspect that she has a home in Italy. Her primary residence of record is in Beverly Hills (at least it was four years ago when she purchased the home). -- kainaw 20:43, 10 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Kainaw, what does your fluency in Italian and your longstanding interest in Italy have to do with this question? -- 202.142.129.66 (talk) 22:52, 10 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

It is clear to everyone except an anal grammar teacher that the object of the sentence is Jodie Foster. No point in nitpicking grammar. -- kainaw 23:01, 10 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Had to "drive" through Google Maps to refresh my memory... Her home is off Oxford Way, clearly in Beverly Hills. She doesn't post her address online, so I see no reason to post it here. -- kainaw 20:50, 10 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
The OP might want to read our biographies of living persons policy - this mandates strongly against including this sort of information here. Exxolon (talk) 21:57, 10 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Oxford Way has plenty of houses on it. My point was not the street, but the location. Oxford Way is entirely within Beverly Hills. If anyone feels that this imposes too much on her privacy, feel free to remove it. -- kainaw 23:02, 10 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Do they still sell those "Star Maps" to tourists with the locations of celebrity homes? ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots23:40, 10 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Eureka ~TV Series

When will Eureka season 4 be airing in the UK. I know it started in July in US, and the first episodes can therefore be seen as downloads, but when will it be on UK television? Thanks —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jasminium (talkcontribs) 09:24, 11 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I was hoping this news from Sky would give a date, but it just says "Tuesdays at 8pm", though according to the Sky EPG, it is not this coming Tuesday 17 Aug. Astronaut (talk) 09:44, 11 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
