George Prescott Bush (born April 24, 1976) is the eldest of three children of Florida governor Jeb Bush and his wife Columba. Consequently, he is also the nephew of President George W. Bush and the grandson of former President George H. W. Bush.

His mother, Columba, was born in Mexico, and his heritage has made him a popular figure with Hispanic voters. Bush has an undergraduate degree from Rice University and earned a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Texas in 2003. He married a law school classmate, Amanda Williams, in August 2004. He works in Dallas for the law firm Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld.

Political activity and prospects

He campaigned for his uncle during the 2000 presidential campaign, and also spoke at the 2004 Republican National Convention. He has widely been considered as a future candidate for political office, and even occasionally as a long-term candidate for President, although he would not be eligible to run for president until the 2012 election, and has indicated to the press that he would likely not run for considerably longer after that. He is also known as perhaps the most public member of his generation of the Bush family, in contrast to brother Jeb Bush, Jr., younger sister Noelle Bush, and his first cousins, including Barbara and Jenna Bush.

Youth

Bush went to high-school with popular musical artist Enrique Iglesias.[1]

Like his grandfather, Bush was a walk-on to the varsity baseball team, although he only played for a season.[1] Bush did play for the Jones College intramural football team at Rice University, and was considered an outstanding player.

On December 31, 1994 at 4:00 AM, Bush was discovered in the home of his ex-girlfriend, by the girl's father, who called the police. The Miami police showed up and took down an incident report[1] based mostly on the statement of the girl's father. The father made several allegations, but did not press charges. The police did end up going to Bush's house and speaking to Bush and his parents. No arrests were made and the matter was closed.[2]

Bush was mostly shielded from media attention for the remainder of his college years.[1]
