McChicken
McChicken is the name of a chicken sandwich sold by McDonalds in many countries. The sandwich consists of a chicken patty, lettuce, and mayonnaise on a bun. The current McChicken sandwich recipe is somewhat spicier than the original. Additionally, the sandwich is somewhat smaller than it was previously, as it is now on the Dollar Menu, which offers various food products for the price of US$1.00.
The shaped chicken patty in the McChicken sandwich is 50% white meat and 50% dark meat. The sandwich was originally introduced in 1980, later removed (and replaced with different chicken sandwiches made with an all-white-meat grilled or fried chicken breast), then reintroduced.
Regional variations
In some countries such as Singapore and Hong Kong, the McChicken is a chicken burger on a sesame seed bun and it does not have a spicy taste. The sandwich was for a time known as the "Cajun McChicken" sandwich, but the name was changed to just "McChicken" around 2000, at which time the spices may have been temporarily or permanently reduced.
