License tagging for Image:Burlesque feast.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Burlesque feast.jpg. Wikipedia gets hundreds of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

Warning sign
This media may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:AeroBilbao aire.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then there needs to be an argument why we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then it needs to be specified where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, consider reading fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other media, consider checking that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. feydey 11:29, 23 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

This image is clearly a scan from a book. Could You please add the book's name (or the source URL) in the image's Summary. feydey 11:38, 23 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It's not a scan from a book, no book features this map, it's a screenshot of a PDF file from Renfe, I work there.

An image that you uploaded, Image:AeroBilbao aire.jpg, has been listed at Wikipedia:Copyright problems because it is a suspected copyright violation. Please look there if you know that the image is legally usable on Wikipedia (you may have to search for the title of the image to find its entry), and then provide the necessary information there and on its page, if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you.

"Vizcaya" vandalism

I read your note on vandalism on Vizcaya redirect page.

I'm not so experienced as to give you complete guide and Wikipedia help is complex and confuse and often suggest "do-it-yourself" reactions (quite logically, after all it's a Wiki).

I can only adress you to the Wikipedia Portal: Help, the Wikipedia:Vandalism page, related Wikipedia:Vandalism in progress page and Wikipedia:Arbitration policy page.

I think that basically you should revert the vandalic changes (Wikipedia:Revert) and, if persistent, you should report to an administrator.

I'll try to keep an eye on the issue. Thanks for commenting.

Basque Portal?

Kaixo, I'm contacting you because you figure in Category:User eu, meaning that you speak some Basque. You must therefore be Basque yourself or have an intense connection with the Basque Country.

I am thinking that maybe was a good idea to create a Portal (or maybe a Wikiproject? or both?) on the Basque theme but I feel such kind of project requires more than just one person.

If you are interested, please comment in my talk page.

Enjoy, --Sugaar 10:15, 4 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

PS- Aupa, David. The above is what I'm spamming to all Euskaldun en-Wikipedians. I imagine you'll like the idea. --Sugaar 10:15, 4 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Your proposals for selected content on Portal:Basque

Thank you for submitting candidates to selected content on Portal:Basque/Selected content candidates. However, I'd like to present the following recommendations/objections:

  • Selected content on portals is expected to last longer than a few days, especially on newborn portals that are still widely unknown. I believe that for now selected content should remain on the portal on a monthly basis. So in this case December 1st could be a more appropriate date for changing the selected content.
  • The article you proposed for selection is Basque mountains. That article is currently a stub and has a lot to grow before it becomes a viable candidate for selection. Instead, please select articles that already contain extensive content. Good/featured articles are particularly attractive to become selected on a portal.
  • The image you proposed for selection is Image:PanoramaBilbao.jpg. Its width (panoramic mode) makes it rather unsuitable for inclusion in a portal box. Images should be chosen having in consideration how they would fit in the box. Also, the quality/detail of the picture is too low, perhaps you should search Wikimedia Commons for pictures with higher quality.

Remember, the quality of the selected content will reflect on the portal being eventually promoted to featured status in the future. See Portal:Portugal as reference for a featured portal. :-) Best regards.--Húsönd 19:50, 8 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Deibid, you uploaded this image but didn't provide either licensing or source info. Both of which we need. The following template will provide you with some links to licensing options. If you need any help with this let me know. Thanks, DVD+ R/W 04:09, 12 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading Image:Puente Colgante.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}. If you have not already done so, please also include the source of the image. In many cases this will be the website where you found it.

Please specify the copyright information and source on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me, or ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. DVD+ R/W 04:09, 12 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned fair use image (Image:Arms.JPG)

Thanks for uploading Image:Arms.JPG. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that the image is unlicensed for use on Wikipedia and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Durin 23:14, 6 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use image use

Re: this edit and [http://en.wikipedia.org/enwiki/w/index.php?title=Image%3AArms.JPG&diff=99565485&oldid=98971090 this edit: The use of copyrighted images used under fair use on Wikipedia is not permitted per terms of Wikipedia:Fair use criteria item #9. Thus, the image was properly removed from the userbox template since a userbox is not part of the main article namespace, where such fair use images may only be used. Further, a fair use image that is not used in an actual article in the main article namespace is subject to deletion as it status if "orphaned", meaning that it is not used in that manner. The use of such an image on a template is against policy and furthermore does not change its status as being orphaned. Please do not remove the orphaned tag from the image again unless the image is used on a main article, and please do not add the image back to the userbox as this violates policy. If you have any questions about this, I'd be happy to answer. Thank you, --Durin 18:19, 9 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for uploading Image:Baqueira.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Oden 13:20, 18 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Unspecified source for Image:Bilbao Biscay.png

Thanks for uploading Image:Bilbao Biscay.png. I notice the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this file yourself, then you need to specify who owns the copyright, please. If you got it from a website, then a link to the website where it was taken from with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 13:22, 18 January 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Oden 13:22, 18 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

1902 Copa

Hi Deibid, I have posted the following info to BarcelonaMarc, to try and convince him that your opionion on Athletic and 1902 Copa is correct:

I am not disputing that Club Vizcaya won the Copa in 1902. However this team is part of Athletic Bilbao history. Club Vizcaya is not a separate club from Athletic, but is part of the clubs history. Several clubs including FC Barcelona, Real Madrid, Real Sociedad and RCD Espanyol and Real Union have won the Copa del Rey under different names. All trophies won under their various names are included in one list. So why should the Athletic record be different ?

Below is a timeline which explains the early history of Athletic.

  • Early 1890s: Bilbao FC formed by British workers.
  • 1898: Basque students returning from UK form Athletic Club.
  • 1902: Above two teams enter combined team known as Club Vizcaya in Copa del Rey.
  • 1903: These two teams merge and form Athletic Club Bilbao
  • 1907: The Club Vizcaya name is revived as Athletic Club de Bilbao and Union Vizcaino entered another combined team in the Copa del Rey.

The 1902 Copa is included in Athletic’s own honours list [1] and the trophy is in their museum [2]. The eleven Club Vizcaya players who played in the final - L. Arana, E Careaga, P. Larranga, L. Silva, A. Arana, Goiri, Cazeaux, Astorquia, W. Dyer, R. Silva, W. Evans - are all included in an archive of former Athletic players [3]. Djln--Djln 14:50, 24 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

If you wish to contribute to above debate further I have started a discussion at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Football Djln--Djln 13:53, 6 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Deibid. I noticed that you changed the selected article on Portal:Basque. You did well, perhaps you would be interested in becoming a maintainer of the portal? If so, just list yourself as a maintainer Wikipedia:Portal/Directory. Maintainers are expected to be changing the selected content of the portal. By the way, images added to selected content to be viewed on the portal are, by rough standard, not to be thumbed. Keep up the good work! Regards, Húsönd 15:00, 1 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Image:Astun4.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Astun4.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Rettetast 21:40, 29 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Coatofbizkaia.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Coatofbizkaia.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 19:45, 13 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Unspecified source for Image:Cercanias_bilbao.gif

Thanks for uploading Image:Cercanias_bilbao.gif. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already.

Basque Mountains

Thanks for your praise Deibid! We try our best. Actually, I think that too, few Wikiwork has been done on Basque mountains, and have been writing a couple of articles lately on some geographical spots I know in an attempt to make up for it a bit. Thanks again! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Iñaki LL (talkcontribs) 14:55, 22 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

On Basque Mountains (2)

Hi Deibid! I feel there's a bit of confusion with the Basque Mountains. I've been elaborating on a article about Adarra, but don't think it's a Basque Mountain in its geological sense. Perhaps you can provide a better explanation for that, are Jaizkibel, Izarraitz, Hernio or even Oiz Basque Mountains strictly speaking? It would be good to make it clearer in the article on Basque Mountains, it's a bit ambiguous. Ondo ibili Iñaki LL (talk) 16:10, 29 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Green Spain

David, no problem if the northernmost part of the Alava province is to be included in the climatic zone Green Spain, but, if you look at the map (and received wisdom) most of the province is too cold and -more important than that- just below the rain threshold to be included.

Is it ok with you if I remove your latest addition in the article? Mountolive group using a loop of another pop group 13:37, 25 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Are you interested in climatic aspects of the iberian peninsula? I am! there is a lot of work to be done in geography (I dont think there is even an article for 'Sistema Ibérico', translation?), for, as you said, somewhere else, people is just too focused in the political aspects, while leaving these more easy (and basic) ones in the sides. Maybe I should ask for help at the wikiproject Spain, but I am not sure if or how many people is really working there...

--Ignacio (talk) 16:46, 28 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

--Ignacio (talk) 17:20, 28 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

What's up with you? stop doing nasty comments as you did in Talk:Biscay. And please don't assume anything about me as you did, you never know who is at the "other side" of the net, ASSUME GOOD FAITH. Yes, we follow some guidelines, some of them are used to prevent bad content to be included, like the pointless comments you poured in the Durango entry. Agur bero bat, ondo ibili. 1. Stop MAKING nasty comments.

2. Never start a sentence with a conjunction such as "And", "and" never has a capital letter in correct English.

3. You are right, I should not assume anything about someone I don't know on the otherside of the net (and neither should you), but I do know that you can be very irritating from your manifestation on Wikipedia. Txakurak (policemen) have that effect. Frankly, I think that Wikipedia sucks pretty bad, often because of over zealous 'guardians' of the rules, who feel that their point of view is the only point of view, in fact their point of view is not a point of view at all!

There was a discussion at Wikipedia:Non-free_content_review#Image:PicassoGuernica.jpg about the imageof the Guernica painting, which is a non-free image. Aizkorri name

Hi Dabid, Zelan??? I changed the title of the article Aitzkorri, which from the beginning I felt flawed, since it doesn't turn up almost anywhere, but I kept cautious. I had heard of Aitzgorri in Spanish, which is an awkward way of putting into Spanish a Basque word difficult to pronounce, but the proper and phonetical name is Aizkorri. This is widely used in google too (I don't like to insist on statistics, but this time it holds true too). Regards Iñaki LL (talk) 14:38, 28 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Canigó

Arratsaldeon,

Please have a look at the list of the tallest mountains in the UK.

Ben Nevis
Snowdon
Scafell Pike
Helvellyn
Cross Fell
[[Kinder Scout
Boulsworth Hill
Hail Storm Hill
Winter Hill
Billinge Hill

Oddly enough, English-language Wikipedia does not portray these landmarks as UK mountains but as "Welsh", "Scottish" or "English" ones. In some entries, "Great Britain" does appear but only as an island (anyway "Great Britain" is a concept of little political significance).

Following the correction some Catalan mountains' infoboxes have gone through, all these peak should be listed as follows:

Location: United Kingdom

... but none is.

The same principle we admit to UK mountains should apply elsewhere, and therefore "Location: Catalonia" should be valid in spite of neither part of Catalonia (North and South) being a soveregin State.

Hope you understand that a principle of coherence is paramount in this issue.

Any comments warmly welcome.

You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Courcelles 03:37, 25 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:Formigal3.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted images or text borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.  Ronhjones  (Talk) 01:17, 10 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:Biscay rail.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:Biscay rail.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.  Ronhjones  (Talk) 01:26, 10 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
