Hi, I'm Bodil. I'm 16 and live in Berkshire, England. I was born in Denmark but moved to the UK when I was 4. I started editing Wikipedia in October 2005 but had been reading Wikipedia articles long before that.

I suppose I'm a WikiGnome. I use WP loads for research and casual reading, and I make an effort to correct all mistakes when I see them. I am more confident editing articles on subjects which I'm familiar with. If I make a mistake, please let me know - then I can make sure I don't do it again. I also like fixing-upping, like wikify-ing and disambig link repairs - they're quite therapeutic!

April 17, 2006 was a very important day for me & wikipedia - thanks to Natalya, I discovered a whole new section of wikipedia that I didn't know existed! All the fixer-upper stuff which I now love doing, well, she's the one who introduced me to it. And the community portal, and the wikiprojects - I didn't know they existed either until Natalya told me. And esperanza, which I'd like to join one day, when I've made a few more useful edits. It was also the day which I made my hundredth and two-hundredth posts (yes, I made about 150 edits that day. I was supposed to be revising for GCSEs... hmmm. I am so blaming wikipedia if I fail all my exams now!). And I know 200 edits is nothing to all you people with 652768749 million trillion edits, but I was pleased :).

Tingly Quotes

These are some quotes which make me feel all tingly inside whenever I read them.

WHAT is there about being in a room filled with people who agree with me that makes me want to change my mind? Maybe it's the self-congratulatory air of consensus among people who consider themselves and one another right-thinking. Maybe it's the consistency of belief that devolves into mere conformity. Maybe it's just that I can no longer bear to hear the word "empower". Wendy Kaminer [1]

Your teachers are always telling you to behave like adults. I wonder if they'd like it if you did... Imagine the reaction of an FBI agent or taxi driver or reporter to being told they had to ask permission to go the bathroom, and only one person could go at a time. Paul Graham [2]

Cecil Adams on the reason for swabbing the arm of a prisoner before giving him a lethal injection:

It allows the executioners to think of themselves as professionals doing a job rather than killers... Nazi death camp guards observed no such niceties. Thus do we persuade ourselves that we are better than they. [3]

Those who would give up Essential Liberty to purchase a little Temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety. Benjamin Franklin

If I give you a pfennig, you will be one pfennig richer and I'll be one pfennig poorer. But if I give you an idea, you will have a new idea, but I shall still have it, too. Albert Einstein

To die hating them, that was freedom. George Orwell, Nineteen Eighty-Four.

Young people are in a condition like permanent intoxication, because youth is sweet and they are growing. Aristotle

And lowering the tone slightly...

You know what the number one health risk in america is? Obesity! Obesity! They say we're in the middle of an obesity epidemic. An epidemic! Like it's Polio! Like, we'll be talking to our grandchildren about it one day, the great obesity epidemic of 2004. "How'd you get through it, grandpa?" "Oh, it was horrible, Johnny, there was cheesecake and pork chops everywhere". Unknown.
