This was a line from a Monty Python sketch poking fun at Australians. The characters were members of the Philosophy Department at the fictitious University of Woolloomooloo who were all named Bruce, with a common fondness for beer and a hatred of "poofters".

This was also the sketch that contained The Philosophers' Song.
