Nicholas Oliver Lawson (born Nicolai Olaus Lossius, 23 November 1790 on Sekken, Norway; died 1 March 1851 in Valparaiso, Chile) was a Norwegian-born vice governor of Galápagos. He greeted the crew of HMS Beagle upon arrival at Floreana Island in September 1835, and famously remarked that he could "pronounce with certainty from which island any tortoise had been brought".[1][2]
